Used too much, most plants show damages now. Should I let them sleep for a day or two or leave on 12/12 as usual? What is better so they can recover? When it is dark they do not need so much water maybe. Some of the plants don't show any damage, 2 are nearly dead. Or maybe caused by the UV LEDs (nearly 20W). They are removed now.
This is so ridiculous, going to loose one or two weeks, if they survive at all. Tonight only reduced lights, reds on full power, blue turned on and whites just on the margin. Nutrition was not what they needed- but deep red light. White LEDs only good to grow foliage.
pics or it didnt happen mg as in miracle grow soil? or ferts? both are garbage imo and will most likely kill ur plants.
+1 to that. Turning off a certain spectrum of LED would have nothing to do with recovery of a over fert'd plant
Turning down the LEDs stopped the damage from expanding. The temperature is normal now, not much heat. Two plants really are nearly dead, all the leaves dried, only the small tops still alive. I will see later today or tomorrow if they can survive + post pictures. Damage on the others did not spread, only some leaves tips. Turning up the LEDs to 400W wasn't a good idea. So it was a combination of the fertilizer + high temperature. As a result I have ordered 660nm LEDs. Only the red 660nm LEDs I have are on at full power, others are reduced down to some blue, and little white light. I have learned a lot from this actually.
Yes for sure I am doing that now. The two plants really have all their foliage scorched, only the small tops still alive. Not sure if they will be able to sustain living. As soon as there is any new growth from the tops, I will know about that. The pistils are still alive. I did not know properly that ability to withstand fertilizer is related to heat directly.
have I missed something or are you saying the problem was nute burn so you have adjusted your lights and now that has fixed it? I'm sorry, I could be wrong but I have a strong feeling there is more to this than you think. I think your right about miracle grow soil though. mixing it with coco fibre and perlite at a ratio of 1:1:1 will sort it out. but for now rinse the soil as much as you can. photos would help people diagnose the problem, without photos we are essentially guessing
OK here photos from the two scorched plants. They are not completely dead as for today. Two larger plants are also damaged. Others interestingly don't show ANY signs of damage.
the first two look poisoned. worst nute burn ive ever seen. looks like you have poured bleach in there or something. the last one looks like lack of light and lack of air to the roots. clear pots arent a good idea
Have not looked at all last night. I will maybe know tonight if they are going to survive. The green plant actually is in a different box now, with 30W good LED light (20w 660nm + 10W royal blue LEDs). Clear pots not a problem. More pictures later today.
The problem with trying to flush soils like Miracle Grow is that they contain millions of these little slow-release fertilizer balls. The more water you add, the more fertilizers get released into the soil as the little fertilizer balls dissolve. Its a lose/lose situation - take it as a lesson and start over. j
Word Jerry got that knowledge lol Sad to say but they are right man the more water you try to use to flush the more food the soil releases that's how MG is set up for lazy house wife's so they don't have to do anything just add water and for that MG is great stuff but as far as what we are all doing its boo boo Over time I'm sure all your plants if in the same soil will have this problem If you can try to clone as much as you can then dump the rest it's a salvage mission now Sent from iPhone 5
Not clear. The plants in the container will keep going I think. Today they get some limestone granules- my pH is too low as well, near 5. I use liquid MG, not MG soil. What they need is red 660nm light, not so much nutrition. We'll see if the two scorched plants survive or maybe one of them.
