Planting in an eggshell

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by mickthedroog, Mar 25, 2011.

  1. I was just reading in a magazine called "Real Simple" that you can cut an eggshell in half, use a pin to poke some air holes in the bottom, fill it with medium and then plant. To transplant you place the eggshell in the new soil and the dissolved shell provides some nourishment for the seedling. Anybody ever try this?
  2. Never even heard of it before. Kinda cool though... little mini-biodegradable pots you can just toss in your medium.
  3. I like the idea, I planted two germinated seeds in eggshells last night. Poked holes in the bottom for drainage.
