planting germinated seeds outdoors?

  1. so i live in a northern(ish) climate (canada, near the border) and i am wondering if i could first germinate my seeds then plant them right outside? I would wait for frost to stop and all that... anyone ever pull it off?

  2. Are you planning to start them indoors now and then plant outside come spring?

  3. if i have to yes but i was thinking of just poping the seeds in a paper towel and planting the seed with a root attached to it outside. that or make a little clone dome and leave it outside. would either one of these work?

  4. It would work for some but not all probably. You'd have a higher rate of survival into bigger plants if you started them out inside because pests and other issues can kill the seedlings easier when they're that small.

  5. k. thanks! i may build a little starting box in the woods with a window on top so the sun can keep the plants growing (and yes it will be hidden so nobody steals or finds the plants) i live with my gf and she's cool with smoking but not growing... kinda sucks

  6. I used to do it in my cornfield near my house. Worked perfect almost every time. I've tried in other places with no success. If its unknown bag seed then go for it and see what happens, but if you spent any money on good beans, do it the right way to ensure it works! The right way either being starting inside first, but since your gf doesn't approve, maybe get one of those degradable seed starter cups and wait til it gets big then plant in the ground

  7. try to convince your girlfriend to let you grow them at home just for two weeks, Im sure that hiding a few tiny seedlings from other people for that period of time wouldnt be a problem, so if you take care theres little risk in it. its nice to have those plants close when theyre still little and you dont want to be running around your grow spot all the time.
