Plant Smell outside of house limit

  1. So we all know its possible to get busted for odor, but I was wondering what th threshold is for the amount of plants someone can have before the smell can leave their house?

Assuming your bedroom has a closed window, but the room has a closet grow with about 8 plants. Would this be enough to be smelled outside a closed window?

What would you say is the Maxiumum number of plants one can have befores

    1. The smell leaves the closet
    2. The smell leaves the bedroom
    3. The smell leaves the house

This would be my first grow under a 600w HPS, and I'm planning to get 8 plants this time around.

Heat and environment for the plants is not an issue, but the smell is.

  2. 8 plants?.....In flowering the smell will emit out of the house and anyone within yelling distance will smell it for sure.

  3. Oh jeeze... Ive grown 2 plants before under flourescents and the smell wasn't too bad.. only when I was near the closet, then again, I was also less worried about heat and kept the door closed.

I have a big window fan that is hanging in my closet that I use on the lowest setting, do you think a giant square carbon filter about 18''x18'' would work?

  4. 18x18 carbon filter On a window fan? Probably not, what's the CFM of the window fan?

I dont know about my specific fan, but I looked up a similar box fan and they are around 3600 cfm. Thats with 3 different levels, I would assume the fastest setting would be the 3600, if the fan weren't hanging, it would def blow over the plants on the highest level. Conservatively, would 2000 cfm be enough?

  6. all you really need is a 4" filter and inline fan or even a 6" filter and fan.

you can set up your hid with the filter to the hid air cooled hood to out the top pulling from your Fan.

  7. a fan and active carbon filter is a must to grow weed unless it fully legal were live!!!!!!

  8. I had 3 and once the lights kicked off it would smell up the whole house. I think if you put a deionizor in the room by the door(not the closet) it should stop the smell from leaving the room to the house. can anyone second this

  9. that would not be enough yes it would work to an extent but fan and filter is needed to draw fresh air in to the room or ya plants would not grow to the full potencial

  10. on top of having a carbon filter ofcourse

  11. yes very true gagaganja i forgot to mention!

  12. Man one of the biggest mistakes i think ive made on this grow is selecting Irianian Chemdog. This strain reaked of dank when they were seedlings. Now im second week into flower and the smell is overpowering. The next biggest mistake is not having a carbon scrubber BEFORE i started this grow. This IC is the smelliest ive run into so far.

  13. Start cooking Indian food wile waiting for your carbon filter to arrive...:D

  14. No shit!! Curry is one of most smelliest spices imaginable. My neighbor is from Packistan and i smell his cooking when i go to check the mailbox.

  15. yeah but its not illigal to cook curry !!!!

  16. where u find iranian chemdog???? link to seeds plz. if they wer online

  17. Had one Sour Cream plant in a Bubble Bucket under a 400 watt HPS, venting into the attic. I could smell it out my house and out by the road (20-25ft). Smelly shit.:hello:

  18. I got the Irianian Chemdawg from Dr.Greenthumb out of Ontario. These genetics are sick, they poped within 5 hrs after dropping em in rockwool. Kinda spendy at 150.00 US for 10 but im not complaining. They are healthy as ever, and in third week of flower. Bud sites galore.

  19. each strain is different some have very potent smell while others not so much if your growing a skunk strain forget it without any deoderizer. if you have no deoderizer your taking a risk period though so just hope for the best and flower them ladies
