So in the Jorge Cervantes "bible" in the flowering section (pg 69) it says--- " Wait to induce flowering until pre-flowers have appeared. Inducing flowering with 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness and 12 hours of llight before pre-flowers set will stress the plant. Such stress could cause strange growth, and plants may frow into hermapgrodites. Inducing flowering before pre flowers develop does not make plants grow faster. But then in the very next paragraph it says--- "In most strains, the first signs of female flowers appear one to three weeks after inducing flowering with the 12 hour photoperiod" This is where im confused. How are you supposed to wait to induce flowering untill pre-flowers have appeared, when you dont see those pre-flowers until AFTER you start the 12 hour photoperiod. Could anyone help clear up this confusion. I cant believe i can do an entire companys taxes, yet i cant figure this out. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH.
You can't figure it out because it is inherently self-contradictory. Jorge is not always the pot-growing god that some give him credit for. Putting your plant into 12/12 before it shows pre-flowers will not, in and of itself, cause stress to hermie. It's true that if you veg long enough the plant will reach a maturity stage that it is ready for flowering, displayed outwardly by pre-flowers and alternating nodes. But if you put the plant into 12/12 before those things happen it simply will trigger the hormonal reaction and cause the flowering to start within 1-3 weeks. You will reward yourself if you wait until the plant shows signs of sexual maturity in flowering, that reward being more yield because by vegging longer you grew a bigger plant with more branches that will generate bud. But you can put them into 12/12 any time you want, including directly from seed, and they will flower properly.
Thanks Toasty. U the man. I kinda figured i was making it more confusing than it had to be. But being im a virgin to all this i just wanted to make sure. Again thanks for the help.
