Hello good people of Grasscity, I have recently started my own indoor grow with 3 G13 White Widows. Im about a month into the grow and all 3 of my plants are yellowing and the tips are drying out on a few. I thought it might be nute burn but have been feeding them plain water for a week with no change. Anyone have any insight on what this may be?
Patches of necrosis in seemingly random spots, necrosis at the leaf tips and deformed leaves with blades that unnaturally curve to the side are all symptoms of Phosphorus deficiency. Start by testing the pH of your soil to make sure that P isn't being locked out and then, if the pH is correct (6.5 for regular soil), feed them an organic fertilizer that's high in Phosphorus. Bone meal and high-P Guanos are some of the best ones but they need to be either mixed into the soil when planting or made into teas for manual fertilizations. Guanos are better for tea making than Bone meal. There are also liquid organic fertilizers that are made from these base ferts like Fox Farm's Tiger Bloom. Welcome to Grasscity
Thanks Jellyman, I happen to have Bone Meal on hand. I was going real light on the nutes because I am using Miracle Grow w/ Moisture Control. I know Miracle Grow has some time release nutes mixed in. I don't have a ph tester for soil, but don't you think MG should be ph balanced?
You can't trust any fertilizer or soil to stay at the correct pH unless you've previously used the same soil with the same water source with the same ferts at the same amounts. Microorganisms alone can change the pH, so can the water and fertilizers you use. Bone Meal doesn't mix easily in cold water so when making teas with it, warm up the water first. Broad spectrum pH drops are one of the cheaper ways to test pH and are available at nearly all garden centers. To use them to test soil pH, start with pure water and verify its pH. When the plants need water, wet the soil all the way through. Let the plants sit for at least a couple hours and then squeeze some liquid out for testing. You can usually just press on the soil surface and collect the runoff.
