Plant looks like growing orange pistils in veg

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by NoaLeaF, Nov 15, 2023.

  1. I have a Do si Do fortune cookie photo that looks like it's producing orange pistils still in veg. I do realize it looks like maybe a magnesium deficiency and have been following normal feeding schedule. Im trying bottom feeding with wrapped perlite which may be the issue here (doing as an experiment) but does this look weird to you?

  2. Its on 18/6

  3. I do not see any pistils. What I do see is nutrient deficiency.

  4. Looks like the first white hairs you see coming when switching to flower ....but they look orange

  5. To me, it looks like thin wispy leaves, but maybe it's just the picture? If the plant is stressed, then it can start to flower. Are you sure your pH is in check? I would suggest a bit of foliar feeding (with calmag water + a touch of epsom) for a week or so. I know some of my plants are magnesium hogs.
And sometimes plants do throw some pistils; just means they are mature, but usually the plants are older and, well, mature. As far as premature pistil wilting, several things can cause this, like stress, or spraying neem (or other things) on the pistils.
I wouldn't worry about these pistils and just try to correct the deficiency that is currently happening.

  6. I think Im going to remove the bottom feeding tubs and go back to top watering. Less issues with nutrients although I'd like to master bottom feeding. Maybe I have to use more of a hydroponic feeding schedule than soil for bottom feed have no clue what is going on with the nutes being fed through the perlite. Thanks for the advice

They look like leaf to me but the pic is pretty bad. If they were pistols, then the plant would already be "in flower" right? They look about ready to flip anyway. :metal:

  9. That is my "point" it's in 18/6 light and it's not an auto............so trying to figure out why.....but they might be the start of some off colored leaves

  10. Youre eyes are even worse!

  11. Why do you bother asking questions? Multiple replies they are not pistols!!! All you do is argue with people trying to help you. You don't sound like you want any help, so why ask? If it's only for the attention, get a dog.

  12. They are in fact pistils. Im right in front of them....it's starting to flower......I asked a question about pistils....you are telling me not even close to my plant that what I said was wrong. You didn't really answer my question at all

  13. Obviously if there are pistils the plant is flowering. How does that even answer my question .......

  14. Hey No Leaf, if they are going into flowering, did you consider what I first responded? I thought I had tried to help you. I already noted the picture wasn't definitive, but it's not like I don't believe you, just that I didn't see anything.
Let's just stick to being non-emotional and scientific-like; I seem to have better rapport with people this way.
Did you manage to turn the deficiencies around? Did you try some foliar feeding? Maybe a dilute formula of G + M would be in order?
Other than that, it could be disease related. Are your plants like right out flowering now?

  15. Even so.....flowering or whatever.....orange looking pistils
ok so pardon my language....they look like
ok so I looked close up with a microscope looks like a combo of new leaves with dark ends like orange as well as pistils with orange-ish tips (female preflowers) with orange tips looks like to me Im just concerned because I had one in the past herm And I remember wondering why the pistils had dark tips........not sure what G is...I tried some water with just calmag other day...and today gave it fox farms scheduled feed just big bloom grow big and cal mag 15ml/10ml/5ml per gallon and ph'd everything with my liquid kit. The lighting has been off the whole grow for that tent because I have too many plants going at once even with 3 tents. Had 200 watts in there now 300. Ppfd is around 1000 for the flowering autos that you see and moved the yellowish do si do photo to the corner so it's prob around 700 maybe ppfd now. Now sure what the issue is but it's my first go at bottom feeding and the other plants look real slim and the leaves break off so easy like almost when something is damp and weak...............

  16. Never did foliar feeding will look it up

  17. What should I use out of my nutes for foliar....have basic fox farms trio

  18. Does it have to be special epsom ?

  19. Other tents.... my flowering tent has 10 plants under a hyphotonflux hp400. (I got the newb fever and started too many plants not thinking or remember how big they get.) (soil/perlite) manual feed. 4x4 tent

veg tent (now starting to flower) has 5 autos and 1 photo 3x3 tent with an HLG 200rspec and Hlg 100rspec. This tent is bottom feeding.

seedling tent/veg tent 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 tent is dwc a couple drip rings and 2 aero/ bubbler buckets. Also one hempy bucket in there.

The point of all the different growing methods is to experiment. So far the dwc tent is my fave. Way easy and 0 issues so far. Also the 2 on right are both LA confidential auto (front right hempy bucket and back right drip king brand drip ring....they are only a little over 3 weeks old those 2......real big already.
