Plant/herb extractions 101-Alcohols

I'm going to make a weekly (possibly bi weekly) post about plant/herb extractions. These plant/herbs I refer to are totally legal, and are ethogenic-and usually used for spirtual quests/shaman like activitys.
none of the plants/herbs mentioned in these "classes" is detectable by drug tests-and once agian; they are all totally legal, and very safe.

Hopefully these threads I make will educate people out there, and to span your horizons of differen't possibilitys out there besides pot, and booze-and other assorted "hard" drugs.





Onto class #1 "Alcohols 101":

If you didn't already know many many plants/herbs alkaloids (the psycoative present in them) can be extracted by using alchohol.
Some herbs/plants i.e. sinicuichi can be extracted by using water.


So once agian--herbs/plants with psycoative alkaloids present in them can be extracted (pulling/taking the alkaloids out of the plant material).

Extraction of any psycoative plant/herb will always leave you with a higher potent alkaloid then say--just injestion (any kind of injestion-smoking, railing, eating e.t.c. e.t.c.) of the plant/herb material.





Now more then common the type of alcohol used for plant/herb extractions is Everclear 195-proof alcohol. This type of alcohol is called etyhl alcohol. In other words--its drinking alcohol.

So vodka/gin/bacardi/any other type of alchohol can always be used for a extraction purpose as long as its alcohol % is high (a high proof).

Now everclear at 195 proof is kinda hard to find.
Esspecially around where I live.





So there are other type of alcholols that are available besides etyhl alcohol. Rubbing alcholol (isopropyl alcholol), and methonal alcohol, and De-Natured alcohol.



Now metholnal alcohol, and etyhl alcohol are commonly used for extraction purposes.
De-natured alcohol will be your friend for these extractions. Why? Becuase its mostly all etyhl alcohol. You can buy this in your nearby home depot/hardware store. Its commonly used for stipping paint/cleaning.
YET its been De-natured with metholnal alcohol to keep kids from buying the alcohol really cheap at hardware stores and getting drunk off of it. So its been posioned and slaped with a big ass posion sign on the front--yet all it is is etyhl alcohol, that has a little bit of metholnal alcohol in it (to make it undrinkable AND to have a higher cleaning/stripping ability) by having a higher stripping/cleaning ability de-natured alcholol will preform extractions on plants/herbs quite well.


The alcholol will litarlly "strip" away the psycoative alkaloids in the plant/herb.
I will go into the actual process for a couple plants/herbs later in the next "class".





Next "class" I will speak of water based extractions, and the types of extractions.
Go out and purchase some De-natured alcohol, and if you can-get some everclear 195 proof for extraction purposes.

NOTE: When I say etyhl alcohol--I'm just saying etyhl alcohol for short for ethanol alcohol.

So etyhl alcohol IS ethanol alcohol.
Well "etyhl alcohol" is sorta a slang word for any sort of alcohol use.



But I'm using it for ethanol alcohol.
So etyhol alcohol=ethanol alcohol (drinking alcohol)

Thats the first extraction method I will go over in my Plant/herb extractions 102 class.
Will be--how to extract thujone (the psycoative alkaloid found in wormwood) and make a hash like product to get you baked.

well the simple answer is. You would be a DUMB FUCK to drink 200 proof alcohol. In other words 100% alcohol will make you go blind, and possibly result in death. Thats why the sell it at 195 proof. I mean sure you can go ahead and drink 200 proof--but its defintly not recommended e.t.c.

100% alcohol (i.e. what you have pictured) is meant for cleaning, science, chemistry, and of course making extractions! Even moonshine is not a total 100% alcohol. Sure you can make it 100%---but 100% is a risk, this is where alcohol can reach deadly levels. Just don't fuck with the shit.


So save that alcohol you've got there--and try some extracts out

ps--the Warner-graham company is a chemical supplier for chemistry e.t.c. e.t.c.

 

100% alcohol was never meant for cusomption/injestion. Don't risk it if you care about yourself. 100% alcohol is meant for cleaning e.t.c. A lot of the alcohol that you drink is distilled severel times so its safe and unsafe toxins are removed.

100% alcohol is like I said for chemistry/cleaning purposes. Basically its the same as drinking rubbing alcohol--just don't drink it.

If you live in the states (I live in WA state) I know that Canada and Org. sell it in 5ths and half gallon bottles. Its a bit expensive. But ya--you can find it somewhere.

well I do admit that it feels a little weird walking to the cash registar with just de-natured alcohol. But of course they know your not going to drink the shit unless your sucidal or somthing.
And the last thing running through their head is that your going to use it for some plant/herb extractions.

But ya--its easier to just use de-natured alcohol, unless you can easily obtain some everclear. If everclear was sold in my state I'd buy it. It might be expensive, but if you like to make some really good product, (extract) everclear/ethonal alcohol is always recommended.
De-natured will work just as well. Its just that ethonal alcohol i.e. everclear is nice if you wanna extract the alkaloids out of the plant/herb and possibly drink it (as long as its not 100% alcohol). Or if you want to do it chemistry style--really clean, precise e.t.c.
