Update About Advertising on Grasscity Important: A New Chapter for Grasscity

Plans for Growing.

    Ok, so I think I have basically everything I need...but just to make sure I thought that I would post a summary on here and see what all of you think.

    I have:
    -2 Egg boxes from jewel put together to form one ::rather:: large box. Do not know the specific size though.
    -8 of these: http://www1.acehardwareoutlet.com/html/product3166485.htm
    *If one of you wouldn't mind answering me...would these be sufficient for 1-2 plants from seedling to harvest?
    -Light ballests/etc. to power the bulbs.
    -Inside of box is covered in tinfoil.
    -Miracle Grow ORGANIC. Please don't make any remarks on this, I have heard MG is bad but I would like to give it a shot based off "other" things that I have seen.

    Ok...and now for my questions.
    The boxes are relatively large...probably around 1-1.5 feet wide, 4 feet long, and about 4 feet tall. If I keep the top of the box open, will this allow enough airflow so my plants don't get fried?

    Also...How many of the 8 CFL's should I use right off the bat? How close should I put them to the sprout without killing it or harming it?

    MG soil and you went with the cheaper less wattage clfs's....

    1. Wrong color temperature you need Daylight Spectrum CLF's
    2. CLFs are Self balasted so dont know why you say you bought ballasts.
    3. Simply keeping the top of the box open does not create ventilation you need some sort of fan in there. They wount get fried without it but it sure wount grow well.
    4. You can use all 8 lights right away if you like... Just be warned warm white clfs (the ones you got which are 2700K temperature) runs hotter than Daylight Spectrum CLFs which are also the correct color temperature for veg.

    Im hoping he means mogul sockets for the bulbs.

    as direwolf said 6000K cfls with the highest lumen output are what you want. Those put you have shown would be doable for flowering if im not mistaken, maybe higher lumen output if you can find them. The more light the faster and better your plants will grow!

    A few CPU fans wired to a power supply for intake near the bottom of your box will do you quite well. And if you arent going with a carbon scrubber, 4-5 in the top should cool your setup quite well since the CFLs provide minimal heat anyway.

    Have you considered how much your grow may smell with the top open? You could be in for quite the suprise. I have 3 plants and when i get home from classes and open my door, the skunk hits me in the face.

    Consider yourself lucky to have Direwolf watching your grow, hell be able to answer most if not all of the questions you will have.

    Thank you for helping me out!

    Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of money to spend on this, and these are the only lights I could obtain at the time and now I cannot return them :mad:.

    So, they will have to do I guess.

    Some of my seeds germinated, so I am about to put them in the soil and throw them under 4 lights for now...I will put 4 more and some fans in there tomorrow.

    Alright, I am going to go set it up. Unfortunately, I do not have a camera other than the one on my phone for the time being because the girl that owns it is at work. I will keep posted...

    If you haven't taken them out of the package then you can take them back right? Unless you ordered them over the internet.
