Dark side of the moon is definitely my favorite album. Not because it's their most famous and the only one I have heard (I own and have heard everyone) but it just is an enjoyable journey from start to finish. I just love throwin on a pink floyd album while I'm smoking and during I'm high. Anyways how about you guys?
It's too hard to pick one favorite album, though I guess Wish You Were Here would be it for me. DSOM is right up there though, and when I was a wee lad The Wall was very influential on my adolescence. But as I get older I appreciate all eras of Floyd more and more, so I'm just as likely to listen to Obscured by Clouds or Meddle as anything else these days. I will say, I'm not fond of The Final Cut at all, and I do appreciate the last two albums more than others do. I USED to be a big Waters fan, but the older I got the more immature behavior he seemed to express. In any case, I don't really care anymore about Pink Floyd's internal squabbles. it was nice to see them reunite for the G8 Concerts, but sadly, they're a non-entity now.
Hmmm, very difficult to pick my favorites. My top 5 would be: 1)Piper At The Gates of Dawn 2)Meddle 3)Animals 4)Obscured By Clouds 5)Wish You Were Here
Can't really pick a favorite. Wish You Were Here Meddle The Division Bell Dark Side The Wall Animals Atom Heart Mother ....Floyd is amazing.
by far one of the greatest bands ever. I own all of their albums too a Momentary Lapse of Reason Meddle Obscures by Clouds Dark Side of the Moon the Final Cut Division Bell The Wall Animals I can't really pick a favorite, but I just love everything thay did
Animals, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish you were here. All three of those tie for first place. I thin The Final Cut is the most underrated Pink Floyd album and The Wall is the most overrated album. Momentary Lapse of Reason is the only post-waters Floyd album I really care for. And the only post-Floyd Roger Waters album I can even take seriously is Amused to Death. I recommend giving it a listen if you like Pink Floyd and haven't heard it. It's not as good as Waters with Floyd, but it's got some of the lyric qualities of old Pink Floyd, just without the awe inspiring guitar work of David Gilmore. I wish before they all start dying off, they'd get together and do one last united Pink Floyd album... then all die simultaneously of a drug overdose after the last show of one final tour. They are so much better as a group than they are apart.
It would be faster and easier to list those that we don't care for since Pink Floyd releases pretty much nothing but greatness. Of those I've heard (nearly all of them) I'd say that the More soundtrack is pretty weak, Saucerful is hit-and-miss, and The Wall would've made an epic record if it had less filler. If you held a gun to my head, I'd probably have to give DSOTM the best album. It's just too damn perfect to avoid. Atom Heart Mother is probably the one I listen to most often though. "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" I normally avoid, but the rest of the tunes are so great and so different from one another (songwriting credits were all over the place with this record).
I absolutely agree, eventhough I think war is necessary some times, that album really puts into words the human costs of it. My favorite track from it is Two Suns in the Sunset. the Gunner's Dream and When the Tigers Broke Free are just such powerful and emotional songs, I also like the track The Final Cut a lot, and everything else on the album is good. definately the most under-rated Floyd album I'm actually considering getting the Dark Side Of The Moon prism tattooed across my shoulder blades, one of my best friends has the RHCP star of infinity tattooed on one of his shoulder blades, and it looks awesome
The Dark Side Of The Moon The Division Bell Atom Heart Mother The Piper At The Gates of Dawn The Wall PINK FLOYD FTW!
