Today I'm going to listen to "Wish You Were Here", "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall" in order. It's been years since I've listened to these and they get better every time I hear them. They are truly an amazing work of art.
That they are, and they seem even better/timeless while you are sparking up a fatty I think I will join you in todays mind fuckening.
Eh, but those are their most mainstream works; definitely not the best stuff. Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother, and Meddle, now that's where its at. Although, I do happen to be quite partial to Animals.
Check out Piper at the Gates of Dawn if you haven't heard it before. It was their first album, back when Barrett was the main songwriter.
Pink Floyd is timeless. I smoked two bowls to Dark Side a few days ago with just a lava lamp; blows my mind everytime. If I had to pick a favorite album, I might just go crazy In my opinion, gilmour>barret. Syd was talented, but if David had not come along, I don't think they would have made it. Not to forget Syd basically lost his mind.
one of my current favorites , its always changing with pf [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGmIL2gtieU](9) THE WALL: Pink Floyd - Young Lust - YouTube[/ame]
I too love Pink Floyd. I don't know if I could pick a favorite album but I think this has got to be my all-time favorite Floyd song. Some people don't like it but this song just haunts me. It's filled with so much emotion. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4Br3Uqxm6c]Pink Floyd - The Great Gig in the Sky Live 1974 - YouTube[/ame]
One of the greatest non-lyrical songs ever to be made. This song just pops in my head at the most random of times over the years and I haven't even stopped to hear the album in over 10 years. One of the greatest bands of all time and an asset to the culture of humankind.
[quote name='"Jazzyj"']Check out Piper at the Gates of Dawn if you haven't heard it before. It was their first album, back when Barrett was the main songwriter.[/quote] That album is insane. So far out there and bizarre, yet amazing
Ah Pink Floyd. One of my all time favorites. Check out Division Bell. It's after Waters left the band, and one of the last albums under the Pink Floyd label. Pretty unknown, at least around here. In my opinion the songs are about the problems the band had, hence the name Division Bell
yall need to hear the pre 70's bootlegs. especially the one from the pardiso in amsterdam, intense atmosphere, amazing improvisation. imo from their finest years.
Shine on you crazy diamond (part I-V, part VI-IX) are my favorite PF songs. I sometimes shed a tear from the memories of the song. (deja vu) I also love this live version! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwCvcGEylaE[/ame]
