does anyone here know if you are drug tested before you get your private pilots licence? i read that you give a urine sample when you have your physical but its supposed to test for diabetes (but they could test for drugs i guess??). one of my friends that supposedly has his licence said they made him shit in a bucket for a drug test(??wtf??)? if anyone on here knows please help.

  2. I've been wondering the same thing cause Im getting mine soon. Im pretty much positive you dont have to shit in a bucket lol. But I was wondering if its a hair or urine drug test?

  3. I highly doubt they would test you, but they might. Who knows?

  4. You know im not sure you should be trying to get around this one, if your going to be a pilot, you are taking 100's of peoples lives in your hand every day. I smoke weed, and i advocate its legalization and toleration, but i do not advocate a pilots usage.

  5. Why would they test you to get a pilots license? Do you mean to get your medical/student pilot cert? If so, then no. When I got my 1st class medical I had to piss in a cup, and I was smoking dank that week, anyway, I passed, so I'll assume they don't test for drugs. although that was a year ago, so I can't tell ya 100%.

To the previous poster: I severely doubt a private pilot will manage to somehow hold 100's of lives in their hands. You're thinking of an airline pilot. General aviation planes usually seat 2 or 4.

I must also point out that the state of alcohol addiction among commercial pilots nowadays is worthy of 100x more worry than a pilot who tokes. It is very easy (at least for me) to keep weed and my flying separate. I would never mix the two with any amount of passengers. It's all about learning to use it responsibly.

If it were up to me, I'd much rather have a pilot population that uses the ganj than a bunch of drunk pilots. :smoke:

  6. im going to hold off for a while before i get my licence so even if they do test ill pass thanks for the help. if i do choose to go commercial ill probably have to quite because i here that those guys get tested a lot.
