Phx glass... What drag???

Discussion in 'Bongs, Dab Rigs, Bubblers, Water Pipes' started by indytoker420, Sep 18, 2011.

  1. Seems like a lot of forums I hop on to have at least one "all knowledgable stoner" who has to complain up and down about how "draggy" phx's are... I personally own a phx hd mini trinity with 2 dome percs, stemless and honeycomb diffused with a Headford 8 slit inline AC and b.wilson disc diffused slide, I and everyone who hits this piece says it's got no drag and is stupid smooth... Any opinions?

  2. depends on the piece. my friend has a honeycoomb and its not very draggy, but my other friend has a 6 arm beaker, which has some drag to it. both phx

  3. I don't remember anyone saying PHx was draggy. Domes are draggy.

An entire brand cannot be generalized like that. I've hit some great PHx's, and some bad ones.

  4. I mean I've got 2 domes on my shit... If you didn't read what I posted above

  5. It all depends on the percs/downstem/bowl setup in the bong...
Why would it being a PHx affect anything?

EDIT : Although in all reality, there's no way your double dome perc is dragless, because thats just not possible.

  6. This thread is confusing when talking about PHX because they produce their honeycomb diffuser tubes with dome percs and then they have their regular removable diffuser tubes with dome percs.

I've hit both (own neither) and the removable diffuser with one dome perc flows nicely with very little drag. There are definitely more free flowing pieces, but the amount of drag was barely noticeable to me.

The HD on the other hand has a little drag to it. They use a 14mm joint on these and I think it restricts the airflow a bit, but it hits pretty damn smooth. They're a little pricey IMHO compared to other available brands. The HD is pretty sick though, so if you dig it, go for it.

I think a some people might be arguing because one side is hitting an HD with a dome and feels like it's draggy (which they kinda are) and then the other side is hitting a Duo with a removable diffy and saying it's not really draggy.

  7. Thanks for your input. I've never hit a duo but as you can see I'm in love with my hd with two domes. Wish I could smoke up every stoner on this forum just to show em how wonderful the hd really is

it has drag compared to other bongs, still really non at all, stemlines have literally no drag, it's insane. Chubb's had a double dome to honeycomb and he even said it has a little bit of a tug. He can take massive tokes too.

  9. When talking about high end glass we talk about drag the way car experts talk about exotic car interiors. 90% of the population would never notice it. I've hit an HD before and it has more drag than my DWB showerhead to disk, but my DWB has more drag than a stemline.

  10. I have had three PHx's in my smoking time and the only thing that made them draggy would have been the double dome perc.

  11. yes but in chubb's later videos he explains after hitting it more and adjusting the water levels "starting to love this piece"
either way this forum was more directed towards phx shit talkers cause it was pretty confusing on how you could hate on a piece like that... its w/e though all in personal preference i guess

  12. he's said it had some tug many times. But obviously it has drag, still not that much tho, it's quite anything like a china tree.

  13. me ripping my phx hd mini trinity, DOUBLE dome to honeycomb

oh yeeeaaah, i love my draggy tokes... hahaha

  14. Never have i even heard of any Phx's having any drag lol Most Phx's have splash guards (dome perc) and that could cause alittle drag but nothing major. Phx is top of the line, what other brand has a honeycomb?!! none cus Phx patented the perc! :D

Maybe no other glass company wants the honeycomb perc because it costs too much to make and doesn't work properly...

  17. Ok for a normal bong and a smoker that isn't to concerned with getting the perfect hit the drag won't be bad certainly not enough to get really upset about but if you compare the PHX's to the high end scientific pieces there is a difference. For alot fo people they don't care what they smoke out of and enjoy it regardless but for people who love glass and want the most out of it PHX's don't make the cut.

  18. It actually doesn't cost them that much to make honeycombs they just blow the honeycombs into disks then into the tube so it is alittle cheaply made but it does work properly watch [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJpDDXm7F7w&feature=related]PHx Honeycomb Diffuser Slow Motion - YouTube[/ame]

Nice, much better argument. Now we can all agree on how overpriced they are.

I have two friends who own HD's, and neither one of them are fans of it, and both regret the purchase. (Both work at different headshops) They do not function at full potential, nor anywhere near.

  20. you can order those honeycombs from a scientific glass store, phx doesn't do shit
