  1. Any interest? I call this one, \"The Fall Corn Is In.\" It\'s hidden under this little thumbnail, in deference to the weak-stomached.

  2. hey not bad
is that just like a monochrome filter or something ?

  3. not bad, but the photo itself is a bit dark, i dunno whether your f-stop is too high or what. other than that it\'s not bad, what is that thing in the top left corner?

  4. Huh? A monochrome filter?

  5. You\'re kidding right?

    Yeah, that\'s it.

    Nevermind. Good grief.

  6. i apoligize. it looks dark to me.

  7. looks like a dead fawn or something. Poor composition, the only time that \'subject in the corner\' works is when there is something else to look at that seems to be the obvious subject but is really only there to hide the real subject or provide irony. Since there is nothing but uninteresting and ambiguous plant life and dirt, there is nothing supporting the deer in the image. You might as well just taken a shot of the deer itself. The contrast is too high, you\'ve lost most of the details leaving the image too sharp... There\'s a myriad or other problems but I think you should keep trying and move on to your next idea and remember what you\'ve learned from this experiment.

just an impartial critique, take it as you will

  8. But you can\'t tell what\'s in the upper-left corner? Are you looking at the full-size version of the image?

  9. Really?

That\'s the only time it works? Huh. You sound like a real authority!

    Nothing \"supporting\" the deer? Hmmm.

Right. The foreground is meaningless and unimportant and adds nothing to the image? Uh-huh.

    Really?

    How lazy of me.

    Sure there are. lol

    BAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Thanks for playing! :D

EDIT: Any serious photographers or visual artists on Grasscity?

  10. then why are you posting this shit? to have people pat you on the back and say: you rule!! I could have just said that the picture is crap, but I decided to give you justifications for my opinion.

have a bit of humility man, There ARE people who know a little something about art and compared to you, in light of this photo, I am an authority. I\'ve got my degree (working on my second), I\'ve been offered a teaching position in a Washington art college, I\'ve also worked professionally in the graphic industry. I\'m quite aware of what makes art good and bad or what clients want in an image. So I tell it how I see it. You need to have thick skin and a much better attitude to be an artist for just this reason. If you don\'t want any help improving your craft then you can suck my balls.

I think most other regular posters in this section will agree with this sentiment. But keep trying. You can only get better.

  11. Yeah, and those were some GREAT justifications, lemme tell ya! lol Move along please, junior.

  12. whatever. I came in here to offer my advice, but apparently you are too much of a master for me to even comprehend. I hope to see this image very soon in some New York gallery real soon. I\'d wish you luck, but you don\'t need it.

    peace

  13. No, no interest at all. Maybe you should brush up on your photography skills before you bust out the sarcasm, because that\'s the only thing not justified in this post. If you can\'t handle feedback don\'t even post, you just made yourself look like an immature punk.

  14. That was some really productive criticism right there. Good job. Thanks for the feedback.

  15. skidoo, as a marijuana smoker you should be familiar with the concept of \"karma\". what goes around comes around, if you act like a condescending jerk to people when they are voicing their opinions, you will likely receive similar treatment as an end result. what are you thinking mouthing off to Palm? i don\'t post my work on here anymore, but when i did i would crave for his criticisms and comments on whatever i posted up on the city because he is so knowledgable of art and composition. anyways, learn to use the criticisms.

  16. Sorry dude, but I\'m looking for more...qualified criticism. Or maybe I mean quality criticism. Big-headed kid poseurs need not apply.

  17. okay im not even gonna argue. all i can say is you have some growing up to do.

  18. Noted. Now move along please....

  19. If you cant take the heat, then stay out of the kitchen. Photography and critiques go hand in hand.. thats how people get better. You should thank palmer for giving you such good feedback... I go to school for graphic design, and everything palmer has said I completely agree with.

  20. Oh great, another one. Yeah, umm, that\'s not heat. It\'s wind.
