What's everyone's feeling on ph(x) pieces? The place where I do the majority of my shopping has them in the case next to the Sheldon Black and Roors. I know Sheldon Black is the current brand of the minute, but I really like the look of one of the ph(x) bubblers I've seen. THe ph(x) 4 arm bubbler is the same price as the Sheldon Black 6 arm bubbler. My question really is whether or not it's really down to personal preference at this price point and with these companies or is there some inherent superiority with the Sheldon Black piece. Other than the "6 is better than 4" angle, am I losing out on anything by getting the ph(x) piece? Does anyone here have a ph(x) bubbler and can speak to their worth/value/etc? I'm not really a collector so I can't simply get them both, or I would Wish I had pics, the ph(x) has a green glass base and 4 diffused arms of green glass in it....
Ok, didn't see much on phx when searching here, but found a lot of threads here on phx when I searched through google. Lots of hate here for the phx, though almost all aimed at their triple perced bongs (which I have no use for) which surprised me. But, that's what I was looking for, answers one way or the other.
I don't think there is any reason to buy a 4 arm phx bubbler instead of a 6 arm SB bubbler. Especially if they are the same price. Get the SB, even if you think it's played out.
Bunch of damn hippies if you saw a honey comb diffuser in front of you, you would be dieing to try it out. Don't deny it.
The percs on the phx actually looked a little thicker to me, the whole piece actually looked a lot sturdier than the SB. To be honest though, I also thought the phx simply looked cooler than the SB LOL. The SB is fairly plain, but you can definitely tell its a nice piece. I don't have any doubts about the quality. Most of the time I'll be hitting my ROOR, but I'd like a smaller piece for once in a while, just something different.
Take this from a person who owns phx and sb. Get the SB, I have phx straight duo and its the least used piece in my glass family, its also the oldest. Oh and it broke cuz of thin gong joints but luckily had it repaired. Phx is a decent brand and I thought it was the shit while smoking out of it. That is until I did purchased some high end glass and really saw the diffrence
I wouldn't buy a phx bong, I've got a nice Roor and have no desire for anything like a phx Trinity. A bubbler is a pretty simple item though really, that's what led me to ask if there was anything about their bubblers that was a red flag. I probably will get the SB in the end, but the phx certainly looks like a nice piece, just not as delicate as the SB
Have you guys never used a honeycomb diffusor? OMG!!!!!! It's pretty nifty, original, and makes a shit ton of bubbles.
I haven't tried one but they look really cool. I bet they're a bitch to clean as well The ZOB 8 arm mini on ALT looks cool as well, I suppose I'll just keep looking at bubblers until I see something that I like the look of, is high quality, and will come in in the 250-300 range. It may still end up being the SB (which I can get at just under 250) but I'll look for another month I suppose.
The only ph(x) stuff i've seen that i've really like are their honeycomb diffusers. The Joint in Boston had some really nice stuff, there was a stemless honeycomb diffused 14" bong and a couple honeycombed bubblers. There might have been a honeycombed inline too, I can't remember. I think if you're looking for percs, ph(x) isn't the greatest quality, but their honeycomb stuff looks really sharp, and their ashcatchers have some really nice innovations.
Asked my buddy if they were hard to clean, he told me it's just like any old bong, just gotta use the right solvent to clean the shit.
I've seen that one, and it's a nice piece definitely. Again, very plain in clear glass with no ornamentation, but I suppose a nice slide would finish it off. I think I like the shape of the LW 6 arm better though, to be honest. The 6 arm looks like it would be more stable on a table due to the base. I doubt many more arms would really make too much of a difference in terms of drag, especially given that bubblers are so small in general. There was another thread here recently where a guy had gotten a worked LW 15 arm from ALT, and I could be HAPPY! with something like that, definitely. It had a shape more like their standard 6 arm. This one: http://forum.grasscity.com/toking-tools/549089-luke-wilson-15-arm-doc-worked-milks-added.html
That's the exact one I'm considering, and will likely get, but I didn't want to discount the phx because of the reputation of their triple dome perc'd giant bongs. I wanted to know if anyone had any knowledge of their bubblers.
Yep that was me. Great piece. SO stable its not even funny. would never have to worry. Couldnt be happier I still want an SB one day though. Im just a hoarder
