Ok, I've been growing a while now and always used ph up & down to adjust my res with. I'm almost out and about to restock. I can't say as I noticed this before but there appears to be 2 types available ( see title) Now at first I thought it was just manufacturer name difference and they were both the same product (ya know like a hoover is a generic brand name used when referring to a vacuum cleaner) However this doesnt appear to be the case as i noticed my goto brand sells both PH up/down & PH buffer 4.00/7.00... Sooo would someone more knowledgable in the art of ph adjustment be able to shed light on the differences please??? Snoochie Boochies!
as the other person said ph up and down are products to maintain correct levels of ph. and 4.0 and 7.0 buffer solution are used to calibrate your meter which should be done once a month.
Thanks, so buffer is for calibration and up/down is for res adjustment. I cant think why I would want calibration solution is bottles the same size as a 4 year supply of adjustment fluid though by hey ho! I was kinda hoping buffer might have been as the name implies and kinda buffers your re to be less acceptable to ph drifting. Was also hoping for something a little less harsh. 4 years o and still over shoot ph adjustment both ways before getting it right lol Snoochie Boochies!
See I just get the small jars of calibration fluid 4.01 - 9.18 - 6.86 Wash pen with distilled water and dry before and after calibration.... the jars last an entire grow if uncontaminated! Snoochie Boochies!
you only need to use the 4.0 and 7.0 cal solution for what we use it for. I think they recomend like 4-5 uses before changing buffer but i am guilty of using it for months also. lol
Grow in organic living soil and ditch the ph pens and ph up or down. It’s so freeing to fill a watering can and rain down plain, non ph’d water twice a week. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
It's not being far enough away from prying eyes that prohibits my ability to grow in good ol soil! Or i'd be out back in a poly tunnel! Growing some 8' Monsters Let alone a tent under lights! Snoochie Boochies!
dude living organic soil can be made from powders aka bone meal and other additions to the organic soil. you dont have to compost your own.
I’m just starting some 15 gallon pots indoors and some 7 gallons for autos. I’m sure I’ll have some growing pains but KNF and the soil food web is so interesting to me. No more dumping nutrients down the drain and messing with ph. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Sorry, that kinda didnt read right. I have privacy around me to grow. Its just closer to home prying eyes... ones that should have plausible deniability... outta sight outta mind so to speak. I dont dump my nutes, they get re-bicycled out back in the poly tunnel Snoochie Boochies!
