pH Meter

  1. I bought a soil pH tester, it's just a long metal probe with a needle on top that points to the pH (1-14). I wsa just wondering if this will read the pH of liquids as well.

  2. Nah...Pet shops will sell those for people with fish tanks..Of course a good hydro store will too but yor soil one is no good for water..

  3. Ah, but you are wrong. I can't beleive I was being so dumb. I just tested it myself with a cup of bleach. Jumped straight for 14. It works anywhere.

  4. the probe type of PH soil tester is inaccurate. I wouldn't be to excited about them

  5. it seems accurate enough. Coca-cola registers a 3, milk registers a 6.4, bleach registers a 13. I doubled checked the values and they check out.

  6. Yelp in the begining they work really well. Thats exactly how mine worked for a bout 3 weeks then shit started happening and the pH tester said it was great, got a digital and the pH was like 4 something. They are worthless it just takes time for it to happen.

  7. If you say so..

Sounds a bit like what happend to me but mine was over a week...

  8. same happened to me.. stupid rapitest POS meter. After about 2 weeks my water was 7.0, soil was 7.0 and a cup of vinegar was 7.0..
spring for a digi meter man, it was the best purchase i made yet.
you can get a hanah meter on ebay for like 25 bucks and it comes with the calibration solution as well..

    gl!

  9. yeah, I have a few storage solution tablets. I'm storing the probe in that to extend it's life. I was already aware that keeping the probe in open air reduces it's functioning capacity. Yeah, I'm saving the money for a digi. I take care of my own bills and money is tight cause business is down. This thing was 5 bucks, for temp use. I'll use it as long as it works though.

  10. that's cool.. just keep an eye on it.. gl 2 u!

  11. what about ph testing strips (paper things) are they acurate enough

  12. Negative, the liquid or digital testers are the best imo.

  13. Yep same old story from me too shitty rapitest im on the 3rd i just been taking it bak.
Hey AugustWest where did u get the hanna for 25 and solution?

  14. Or you can get a cotrol wizard, its a little better than hanna for not that much more money, but you'll needto get the calibration solution. The amount of calibration solution I got with my hanna was not enought to properly calibrate for the whole grow and had to buy some anyhow. Oh and the control wizard uses 2 point calibration.
