Ph meter storage

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by sixxis50, Nov 1, 2011.

  1. I just bought a "checker" ph meter by hanna. Has anyone herd of using the calibration solution as storage solution? Or if there are any other methods. I forgot to get it at the grow store and I live very far away.

  2. keep it in tap water

  3. no don't keep it in tap water. you can use ur cal solution. or use distilled water. tap water has salts and stuff in it that will corrode the probe even keeping the probe in the nute solution too long will dirty ur probe always rinse probe before and after use or cal. and u don't need to keep buying cal solution, as long as u rinse the probe, and cap ur cal solution so it don't evap it should last a long time.

  4. Thanks for the help!

  5. if you read your instructions itll say dont keep it in distilled water i have the same meter but do as u wish :)

  6. Thanks gorilla my instructions weren't actually in the package.

  7. there is nothing in distilled water.it wouldn't be my first choice either. but if there is nothing in the water and it ain't gonna do anything to the meter. meters use electrical conductivity to measure ph,ppm,ec,blah, blah. and distilled water has no electrical conductivity at all.

  8. Logic says to use distilled, but all meters will say to not use it

Something about ions destroying the bulb
