Ph Levels?

  1. Evening. I'm just starting my new grow, and for the first time i'm going to pay attention to the Ph levels of the water I'm using. For some reason I thought you didnt have to worry about this with soil grows, but you obviously do.

For newly sprouted babies and young plants, is it right that he Ph level of the water should be about 5 and for older and maturing/budding plants the Ph level should be about 6?

I measured the Ph level of the water from my tap and it was 8.5. Is that quite high, and if it is what would this do to the plants?

    Thanks lads.

  2. For soil, no matter what the plant size, the pH of the runoff (water that comes out the bottom of the pot when you water it) should be from 6.3-6.5. A pH of 5 is way too low for soil, you might be thinking of hydro though as the correct pH range for that is 5.3-5.8. Good luck man.
