My PH is fluctuating quite a bit. Only two ladies in the garden this winter, one of which is fine, the other (Black strain) won't sit still. PH levels were reading between 4.8-5.1 through yesterday morning, so flushed her out with Baking Soda/water. Levels read around 6.3 all day yesterday. Checked her again this morning and she's back down to 5.5 Any words of wisdom here? Typical feeding is straight H2O and a dash of cal/mag. Pouring well water from our water system here on the farm in Wine Country. Thx!
Are you ph'ing the water you put in? I can't really think of anything else unless you have some crazy acidic soil. My grow journal http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/1323166-another-noob-his-first-grow.html
Yup, ph is at 6.5 out of the tap. Watered today with Ph/up and after an hour or so she read at 6.5, hoping she stays there. Using Ocean Fresh soil mix. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Damn man. Seems like you have your bases covered. I have no ideas My grow journal http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/1323166-another-noob-his-first-grow.html
I flush with molasses a bit if soil ph is low..helps get microbes going to balance ph and has cal mag which is usually the first to get locked out
She's still reading low... after a PH flush yesterday she is reading at 5.4 today. Certainly better but not ideal. Running another pH flush next round of watering.
Are there actually signs on serious lockout or pH problems, or are you just worried? With such a large container I'm surprised that the pH is going wacky unless it's over-watered regularly so it's just sitting wet. Probably don't need the calmag additive regularly either, if there's signs of cal/mag deficiency it's probably because of the pH so adding more wont help. Does sound like probablu flushing with plain pH-known water is a reasonable course of action and there's not much else to do, but I ask again is there any actual symptoms of a problem apart from your pH meter freaking you out?
Yes, both plants have yellow burn marks on the leaves... only 10% of the leaves altogether though, so doesn't seem too terrible. Also vertical growth on on plant seems to be creeping along, but leaves, stems, and pistils seem to be developing ok. I fed both plants last night, and pH'd the runoff which was just above 7.0, so seems like things are mellowing out. New growth looks pretty good too, no burn marks as of yet.
