Perpetual Harvest

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by chance9861, Jul 8, 2018.

  1. So, I'm sure many of have perpetual grows going, I'm wondering how I would get that started.
    Right now I have 2 tents, a 2x2x4 and a 4x4x6.
I'm always changing lights cause I'm trying to find some that I really like, right now I'm running led.
I grow in soil, usually happy frog.
Any help would be appreciated, I can't stand waiting for one harvest to finish before I start more plants lol

I currently have a tent in flower atvanout day 68, and a veg closet with generation 1 clones at about day 40 and generation 2 clones at about day 18.
Plan is once flowering is done I’ll move one of the generations to that tent and flip. Then I’ll pull clones from gen 2 right before I put them to flower. And the cycle continues.
Each chamber uses 2 600w Led and final pots are 3 gallon fabric pots. I’m growing 5-6 different strains and hope to pull close to 1-2 oz per plant. Nothing crazy but more than enough for personal use.

  3. Okay, that sounds simple enough, I figure I want to get another 4x4 tent though so I can do like you got and have a couple generations going at once

  4. It’s all about timing and I’m still trying to nail that down.
The tent is a 2*4*6 and the closet is like 2*7*8. I still have my first tent that I bought which is a 2*2*4 as a back up if needed.

  5. High chance

You could be doing a modest perpetual grow with what you have now and a year from now have loads of pot of various strains.

Just don't start everything at once. Get few plants going in the little tent then a month later start a couple more. As the first ones get a decent height and have been topped, trained or whatever you what them to look like pre-flower put them in the big tent under 12/12. Hopefully leaving you room for a couple more plants.

Then if you start a couple new plants every 4 - 6 weeks you are constantly harvesting a couple to make room for the new ones.

I don't know what your seed situation is like but it's the perfect setup for fem seeds. Buy 1 or 2 each of a bunch of strains you like and have a nice selection of bud in 6 months.

If you wanted to keep mothers or clone some plants it would be nice to have more space but if you're happy growing from seed you're all set.

I'm just getting going on a similar setup. Commandeered the spare bedroom upstairs for veg duties and will move plants down to the basement grow room for flowering. It's all set up for climate control etc whereas the bedroom has a window I can open for some fresh air.

I would have had all that going months ago but got a serious mite problem that's about taken care of so can get back on track pretty soon.

  6. Nice, that's some good advice, I think I'll go ahead and get everything ready in the little tent

  7. Some reading material for you.

I found a great spot to download FREE POT BOOKS. I downloaded a grow bible first and got lots more. Books look great and complete like the real ones I have here. No web site but just a page of links. Just right click on what you want and then "Save Link As" to download so they don't open first as some are 50+ megs. They got lots. Enjoy.

  8. I just cut a bunch of clones and veg them in my basement and just start adding plants to my flower tent every week or two depending on when I want to harvest. I like to harvest a plant or two every weekend..sometimes every other weekend.

  9. I bolded and italicized what I had to learn the hard way. If you're just starting, make sure you're planting/cloning in waves. I planted a shit load of plants all at once and cloned at the same time (I was forced to take the clones before I was ready due to my newb mistakes), so I currently have two plants in my flower area, and about 8 plants waiting their turn that I have literally had to chop in half twice now.

I have basically the setup you mentioned on a lodge tent. I have a separate area for veg and an area for flower. Patience and timing is key. If you plant everything at once, or clone way too early like I did, you will run into spacing issues. I currently have some of my clones who's roots are actually pushing through the cloth pots that they are in because I don't have room to move them into larger pots. Patience and timing is key.

  10. Sorry I didn't realize that pic didn't show as much of my flower tent as I thought it did, it's an old pic, I'll get you a newer one if you'd like.

  12. Cloning the same strains over and over gets old for me. I use strains with similar flower times usually 50 to 60 days in my case pure indicas or very indica dominant. I calculate the size of the plants I want in flower and plant accordingly. The first year I grew I did 3 months veg, planting every month and harvesting every month. I had some on month one and some on month 2 in my flower room. It was a nice to always have new stuff every month, but a pain dealing with different heights in the flower room.
Plants that veg 3 months are a bit large. I also use uvb in the last few weeks of flower, so the month one plants were getting more uvb exposure than they need, it can be kind of hard on them.
I have since switched to harvesting every 2 months. Much easier, the plants are a more manageable size and they all get the uvb at the right time. These are all Barney's Farm Indica dominant L to R Crimea Blue (80/20) Phat Fruity (70/30), and Violator Kush (90/10) all planted the same day from seed. The Phatt Fruity went a couple weeks longer and I did a 2 stage harvest on all of them.

  13. Bruh that's how I'm tryna get

  14. There's a nice mix pack on ILGM for $189 for three strains, Black Widow, Bruce Banner, and Skywalker OG - 10 beans each. So a total of 30 seeds for $189. Not too bad when you consider most strains are about $10/bean.

I personally only want the Skywalker, but my wife wants the Black Widow (okay I kind of do because I've been told it's a very very dark strain during growth) and Bruce Banner.

Once I cycle through everything I currently have growing I was thinking about getting rid of the divider in my cloning area, and basically using it as a veg area for one of each strain at a time. Basically let them veg for about 6 weeks in there, move them into the flower tent, and as I move them in I either take cuttings for clones, or pop new beans. Not really sure though if I really want to dedicate myself really to three strains for the next several years of growing. Not really dedicated but I mean if I only want to use things I've already purchased more or less.

  15. Only issue I could see me running into with that is the simple fact that two of those strains are Sativas, and one is an Indica, so I would be dealing with different heights.

  16. Get really good at plant training and have a lot of “props” available to adjust height. I do perpetual with 2-4 strains at a time in my 4x4. I just like a variety of smoke.
