Perpetual grows in spider farmer 4x2 grow tent kit(photos) & AI5x5(autos)

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by bgsixxxniner, Dec 12, 2022.

  1. I just received and setup my brand new 4x2 spider farmer grow tent kit. And im impressed with this setup. Ive been growing off and on since 1995. Mostly outdoor guerrilla grows. Ive had some success. And of course some failures. But like most on the forum, i love this hobby!!! Always learning and trying new shit. So if anyone reading this has any criticism or helpful hints, im surely open to them. I will have pics and will be using this journal as a sort of grow log too.

The kit comes with spider farmer sf2000 grow light and 4in fan+carbon filter combo w/fan speed controller. The light is 200watts.

Ive been trying to germinate some good bagseed ive had... But so far no luck, but havent given up yet. Also i have ordered some barney farms genetics:
    3- tropicana banana seeds-fem
    3- glookies -fem
    Freebies are:
    3- seedsman og kush-fem
    6- critical 2.0 autos
They are scheduled to be here Wednesday. So we'll see how it goes. Ill update with photos when i get off.

25 watts a sqft is what that light will push in a 8sqft space, want a minimum of 30 watts a sqft for flower. Imo 35 to 45 watts a sqft. 2x4=8 200÷8=25. I'd want a 6in inline fan for that space as well. I'd personally only run a 4in in a 2x2 or drying tent. Those kits are a rip off imo.

Not suggesting peroxide won't help, alot of people use it. I don't and have 100% success, imo more about the germinating environment. Cool, humid, dark place, and leave them alone for 48hrs dont check peak or disrupt the environment

  3. Buddy convinced me to do H2O2 recently. Got a 100% pop rate across 2 seed packs, #1 Stunna from Relentless and Rainbow Belts 3.0 from Archive.
Can't agree more strongly with this, and TG did a great chart on that post too. I think of all the seeds that didn't pop in the past, might cry a little knowing they probably would have popped with a little H2O2.

  4. I agree about the light... And i plan on upgrading to a viparspectra xs4000 when i can afford it and then i would obviously have to up the exhaust. I think its a great starter kit the tent is real nice. About the seeds not germinating, i think they are just too old. They are close to 10years old and my storage technique wasnt the best. Im hoping the tracking on my seed order is right and ill have my seeds by Wednesday. I only plan on growing 2 plants at a time i think this light will do. Just a small personal grow.

  5. Well still no sprouts on bagseeds. Might take a few of them and stickem in some soil.

Anyway heres a few pics of the setup. Best setup ive ever had. Ive grown about 6 or 7 indoor crops myself and helped a buddy on his. So my indoor experience is not that extensive. Ive only ever used CFLs so my crops were not spectacular.

Why viparspectra? They use the same diodes as Mars hydro. If you're saving up get horticulture lighting group or something of higher quality. You probably haven't owned alot of grow tents, hopefully spider farmer has upgraded their materials used. All tents are about the same until it comes to zippers, and longevity of tent in use. First couple tents I got I thought were kickass until they weren't. I'd look to upgraded to a ac Infinity next go around. Im not trying to sound like a negative Nancy just been through all that a couple times with tents to many times concerning the lights used. May not think the tent matters until you're deep within flower and the zipper breaks, also hinders the controlled environment or new light and inline are heavier and almost topples tent over with every opening and closing. Without knowing what you need until you've experienced it, internet buying can become expensive due to most companies available being ripoffs.

  7. Heres a few pics. GB you are right i almost went with ac infinity but reading reviews and watching countless videos i went with sf because from my research their lights were better. Ac does have better tent and environment control with fans and exhaust w/controller. So i started with this and this is gonna be it. But i am taking your advice to heed! 8. Ok so my seeds arrived and none of the old bagseed i tried didnt get taproots or sprout.

So im gonna start this adventure off with two critical+ autos freebies from seedsman. Placed in paper towels 48 or so hrs ago and already got taproots. So i placed them in 5 gallon fabric pots, spritzed them with water and put a makeshift dome over them. Now the wait. One of the seeds were so tiny, never thought it would pop a taproot, but it did and it was the longest of the two.

  9. Ok so i dont think these 2 autos will make it. I miss read the bag of soil and thought it said it didnt have any amendments in it except compost and ewc.... Well it does and i amended the soil with 11/1tbs per gal... So theyll probably burn up... Heres a few pics anyway.... Ok photos wont load.. but anyway found a garden supply store that sells foxfarm ocean forest and i was thinking about trying coco perlite amended with dr earth and ewc...fed with liquid kelp every 2weeks. I hope these pull through though. Idk why pics wont load... Im gonna read some threads about it!!!

  10. Ok well pics dont work. So took the 2 germed critical 2.0's out of that extra hot soil and put them in some ffof which i learned is a lil hot for seedlings. So ill get some promix and try to replant them again. Im not giving up on them as long as i see green they will keep getting water when they dry out.

  12. The one on the left might make it... I can swear it stretched above the cup lip.. and i know i planted them almost up to the leaves so they both have stretched a lil. They might make it.

  14. Sorry bro, idk anything about fox forest or any of that soil other than it tends to be hot (ie. full of nutrients) and meant for mature plants.
I can tell you its better to start in smaller (solo) cups to allow a better root ball to form prior to transplanting to a larger pot. You will get better and faster growth that way.
I can also hint that if your plants are stretching, they need more light. About 20,000 lumens off the start works good. You can also try flicking them with your finger, lightly slap them around, or introduce a gentle breeze on them, so that they get more bushy. You can bury them lower when you transplant again.

Keep at her, its about having fun ;)

  15. Thanks for the advice. I was told to start autos out in pots they will finish in bc of stress of transplanting. Theyre in solo cups now. And seem to be growing. Im tempted to pop another seed in different less hotter soil maybe pro mix. Yeah i will keep at it... Its to much fun. Screenshot_20221220-083453.jpg
