perlite, vermiculite, and soil

  1. Hello fellow cannabis connoisseurs,
I was wondering if it is necessary to have either perlite or vermiculite in your garden soil mixture. I understand that it helps drain the soil but im not sure if they will still grow sufficiently without either of them.
Ive got 2 seedlings in seperate 8oz plastic cups at the moment with only gardening soil and under a cfl with a 24/7 cycle

  2. Yes you can definitely grow without perlite or verm. It does help a lot though

  3. vermic. is used to retain moisture, you don't want that, since you want the soil to dry between feeds/watering. i "always" use perlite. great for aeration/drainage.

  4. Thanks for the advise, im gonna keep them where they are at now and hope for the best, would you recommend transplanting them into red solo cups when they get stronger or keep them where they are at?

  5. the perlite helps keep the soil from clumping too. next time you transplant, just use 15-25% perlite.
