so for drainage ive been hearing both Perlite and Vermiculate are good, but ive heard the perlite soaks up too much salt and burns the roots. any truth to that? so basically which one is better, or use a mix of them both? thanks
I am more familiar with perlite than vermiculite. perlite to my knowledge does not contribute to nutrient burn. Some use it a medium for hydro systems and also for starting clones so I can't imagine it would hurt the plants.
Can you mix in perlite with the soil with your hands and then use it or should I do it in layers as you described patriofarmer? If in layers can you please give more detail as to what you do?
