I'm having trouble finding rockwool, within driving distance!! I've been researching alternatives: 1. SteadyGro (expensive, but has superior results to rockwool) 2. Perilite (proven to work 7 percent better) Both of these mediums are proven very successful. Can anyone verify this?
Using both the perlite and rockwool on different instances in a dome.. It seems to cook them even trying to keep them humid.. After building the wick tray i tried using just perlite with about 50% success rate Next attempt was using the rockwool along with the perlite in wick tray.. around 99% now.. (This is without a dome) Seem to do a lot better Using this technique ever since.. The only other upgrade i would do from here would to actually purchase a bubble clonner of some sort.. This is the technique i used... Not much different other than using rockwool cubes as well
I dont use any medium for cloning, I build an aero bucket for 23 dollars and put regular water in it. it shoots up through 4 misters and with water ONLY i can turn clones in 10 days max. as far as a mortality rate, I havent lost a clone in years not even one and I have done hundreds and hundreds of em'. however my friend uses 1 1/2 inch cubes and has a 100% rate also. rock wool is very easy to deal with and in an emergency can be packed up and moved easily. rince it in 5.5 water let it dry 100% and rince it again before use and it will clone fine in a water tray with an airstone. good luck with it bro, good info they gave ya here just addin another thought...
Dude, I think you got it figured out with the aero bucket. That seems to best technology for growing leafy vegetables. I'm just a closet grower, so I don't have the ability to get too crazy, but I want to experiment with aeroponics. I'm looking into a bucket system down the road, but I don't have the time to build one today. I'm starting to figure out that becoming an expert at the best methods\techniques makes growing easier because you can have a benchmark, vs. wasting time learning less successful methods. What works for some may not work for others, but there is always going to be a new technology, or news techniques through trial and error.
dude dont sell youself short, you can build an aero cloner in 30 minutes for under or about 25 dollars and it will work every time, add cuts, add water, turn on, 10 days later theres roots like crazy. Check out this link bro and look at the system plans you will find some killer info on custom built systems that are cheap and work very well. CO2 Hydroponics GOOD GROWIN' BRO!!!
