I clean my bong with ISO and salt every couple days, yet after I clean it my Perc will get brown Rez in the Perc after my first bowl. I smoke fire dank so I'm positive it isn't the herb. Perhaps my Perc has rez stuck which I'm not seeing? Any advice? The Perc is black colored not clear glass so I can't really see what's inside. I have never gone awhile without cleaning it which is why I'm so confused. Lol any help is appreciated! One Love
I can't tell from the pic if that's resin or are those little pieces of burnt herb? If its actual plant matter then you need a glass screen for your bowl. Other things that will help or almost completely eliminate this are a good ashcatcher or a carbon filter.
I have an ash catcher and I wont pull it through either(love keeping that glass shiny). I also have a glass screen I can start using again, I usually don't take the time to fish for it in my ash tray after cashing a bowl but I will try anything at this point. It is just a mystery. It does look like burnt herb so I have a feeling the percs are clean and maybe it is pulling through. I have been looking into carbon filters, do you have one? I heard you can damage your lungs however, if the carbon isnt always clean. Any truth to that? I am just tired of cleaning my bong and it gets dirty after one hit. Dont have this problem with my bubbler.
I use a McFinn's carbon filter. It keeps my glass a lot cleaner than normal use without the filter. Especially burnt herb, it catches all of that. It also makes the hits smoother. It's supposed to help filter out some of the tar and carcinogens. IMO it works great. After a few days I can tell I need to change the carbon out because my hits start getting harsher. The only thing that I can think of that's unhealthy about not changing the carbon is that it's not filtering out the nasty shit if the carbon is already saturated. When you use the glass screen does your bong stay cleaner?
Just tried with no success, it was clean before use. The residue I'm getting is brown and stringy. It's really gross..I also noticed it on the bottom now so maybe my cheap ash catcher just isn't doing its job. It usually doesn't get too dirty, just all this brownish Rez. Maybe the moisture of the ice mixed with cold water is making the smoke turn into this stuff I'm having a hard time describing. Thanks for the reply btw, happy Halloween!
Is it like a film, i get stuff like that on my slide. Get a carbon filter if what you have isn't working. Thats the only other option.
Oh I see what you have going on there now. That's not herb getting through that's from the smoke itself. I mostly get that stuff in my DG. I'm pretty sure that's caused from your smoke cooling too much and some of the oils in the smoke are coagulating. Try using room temp water and no ice. Edit: also I'm not sure how you hit your bong but just in case you don't know this already, don't let the smoke sit very long before you clear it. That should help too.
Yes, it is like a film! thats how I was trying to describe it lol. It has been chilly lately and I always use water from my cooler so I will have to try room temp and let you all know! And yes, I always try to clear ASAP
I noticed a big difference with using room temp water! When i added two ice cubes, the film started again..I guess I'll try and stay away from ice
