So many people talk about how eventually humans will kill themselves off (and probably the rest of the planet). Or claim that humans really "don't know shit" and wouldn't ever be smart enough to last for a long time. But I think it'sa very strongly possibility that humans last a LONG fucking time. I feel like right now is still a very early age in human history. Like eventually we'll seem way more ancient/primitive than the cavemen seem to us. It blows my mind how smart humans really are. We are constantly developing and we're at a time now where progression is going at an insane rate. I know we'll hit a wall (history seems to suggest it anyway), but we'll probably (given the time) break that eventually, just as we have before. Right now our brains are limited by their design, but evolution could let us keep going in understanding and knowledge. So I think it's very possible that humanity might be in it for the long run. I feel like it's very likely we will develop a very effective means of travel that allows us to colonize the galaxy and even possibly numerous other galaxies. Of course we'd probably die out as the universe begins dying... but still, I think we've got millions of years ahead of us. I feel certain we could overcome all the obstacles (assuming we don't just get fucked by a solar event in the relatively near future), and if I had to bet money I'd bet we make it. Does anyone else feel like people are going to last a seriously long time and possibly be major players in the near parts of the uuniverse? Or do you think we'll go out long before we progress that far?
I agree that humans could live for a very long time here, but that goes along with saying people are destroying each other/the planet we aren't living up to our potential right now, but if we are responsible our potential is great
We definitely have a hard time with how we treat eachother and our planet right now. I think a civilization can be defined by their practiced philosophies and and their technology. Right now our technology is developing at a crazy rate but our 'ethics' are developing much slower. Eventually technology will hit a wall and progression will slow down. I think that will be the end of one period of time, and that humanity will then primarily develop in philosophy and it will be a new age Then we'll have another technological boom (probably the one that will be what really carries us). The is just my guess. But human ethics are making progress. They seem bad now but when you compare it to what we've progressed from, we've come a long way (some small civilizations have done a good job though). That trend will probably continue. If it does then we should be good I think.
Interesting man, and I pretty much agree. You could be right. Humans are very adaptable, but also capable of extreme destruction. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF15TekHVV0]THE BIOLOGICAL ADVANTAGE OF BEING AWESTRUCK - by @Jason_Silva - YouTube[/ame] Here's hoping.
Our phones, game consoles, calculators, tvs are becoming more like a desktop PCs as time goes by. Why? Because we have to be connected to world all the time. It feels weird without the internet. I don't know about you guys, but I my handwriting sucks, and I like computers more than I do books. I feel the impact when I'm without machines. I'm beginning to transcend into a machine. It is true. I think that is our next step in evolution. People talk about AI taking over or the human race dying out but I believe if we, ourselves, become the machines, then we have nothing to worry about except ourselves. Which is the case today. The only difference is that today we are humans. We get sick, we can't compute fast enough and we frequently use emotion over logic. Just look at all the info we are receiving on a daily basis. Eventually we are going to need an upgrade to keep up. I'm going to have to disagree. If anything, we will be taken into the spaceage because of the search for more powerful weapons. I'm sure humans will want to be prepared for anything that might come from the beyond.
