People still believe cannabis is dangerous

  1. Which is why I needed to pwn this kid. I uploaded this picture to my facebook wall:

And the kid responds to my picture by posting this:

"Persistent cannabis users show neuropsychological decline from childhood to midlife"
Persistent cannabis users show neuropsychological decline from childhood to midlife

All he does is posts a link, WOW BUDDY YOU GOT ME THERE LOL!!!!

    So I post this:

Children should not be using cannabis, nor should those who are underage. "Persistent cannabis use was associated with neuropsychological decline broadly across domains of functioning, even after controlling for years of education." They never define what "persistent cannabis use is," and they never explain how its use causes "neuropsychological decline." Other evidence shows this study to be flat out wrong. Unless a person is smoking massive amounts of marijuana every day (like a pound or two a month, which is about 10 government sized rolled joints a day), there is no difference in brain function when comparing daily users to non-smokers (or those who have smoked a few times only in their lives). If you do anything to that level of excess - like smoking 10 joints a day, it might well have some untoward effects, whether it's marijuana or wine or broccoli. The consumption of cannabis, even long-term, has a “minimal” impact on brain function, according to a systematic literature review published online by the journal Psychological Medicine. "Minimal evidence of major effects of cannabis on brain structure has been reported,” noting that marijuana users and controls perform similarly on cognitive tasks. Long-term cannabis smokers who abstained from pot for one week “showed virtually no significant differences from control subjects (those who had smoked marijuana less than 50 times in their lives) on a battery of 10 neuropsychological tests.” Investigators added, “Former heavy users, who had consumed little or no cannabis in the three months before testing, [also] showed no significant differences from control subjects on any of these tests on any of the testing days.” Marijuana?s Impact On Brain Function ?Minimal,? New Study Says | NORML Blog, Marijuana Law Reform. Another study shows the minimal effects marijuana has on brain function. "The data reinforce the notion that cannabinoids are unusually non-toxic to the brain and that even long-term use of marijuana likely represents little risk to brain function." Continuing, "Not only has modern science refuted the notion that marijuana is neurotoxic, recent scientific discoveries have indicated that cannabinoids are, in fact, neuroprotective, particularly against alcohol-induced brain damage." "A scientific analysis in the October issue of the journal Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry noted that, in addition to THC and CBD's brain cancer-fighting ability, studies have also shown cannabinoids to halt the progression of lung carcinoma, leukemia, skin carcinoma, colectoral cancer, prostate cancer and breast cancer." http://norml.org/component/zoo/category/cannabis-and-the-brain-a-user-s-guide. Cannabis is medicine, there is overwhelming, and irrefutable evidence to prove this. "If marijuana smoking posed serious negative impacts on health - whether by increasing one's risk of a heart attack or otherwise - it would already have become readily apparent in large scale epidemiological surveys." Marijuana's Safety Unchallenged By New StudiesFood, Heart Attack Studies Find Health Risks Inconsequential. A statement from a source in the US Department of Justice in 1988 said, "Nearly all medicines have toxic, potentially lethal effects. But cannabis is not such a substance. There is no record in the extensive medical literature describing a proven, documented cannabis-induced fatality. In practical terms, cannabis cannot induce a lethal response as a result of drug-related toxicity." From January 1997 to June 2005, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported zero deaths caused by the primary use of cannabis. In contrast, common FDA-approved drugs which are often prescribed in lieu of cannabis (such as anti-emetics and anti-psychotics), were the primary cause of 10,008 deaths. The cannabinoid THC has an extremely low toxicity and the amount that can enter the body through the consumption of cannabis plants poses no threat of death. Medical cannabis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Cannabis is one of the safest medicines available on the planet. Also, the government grows medical marijuana to this day, as part of their "Compassionate Investigational New Drug program." They are very aware of its medicinal benefits, despite their propaganda campaigns. Compassionate Investigational New Drug program - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Did I totally educate the fuck outta this kid or what? Just thought I'd share. :hello:

  3. Very well done research.

I for one have always been amazed that a plant could be illegal.

Especially because every other country in the world widely produces hemp because of how useful it is - yet we don't even produce it because it's illegal to.

Crazy government trying to tell us weed is bad. Weed itself isn't bad, but the outward look and stereotypes of a stoner cause many people to be anti-weed.

Very confusing subject. If weed is used for sick people for medicine, then it's perfectly safe. It's a plant.

  4. I laugh at those who try to make a point without performing even 5 minutes of googling, forget about reading a reference journal; then make a point on FB.

If this was Mario, I'd 1UP you, CannabisKills.

  5. paragraphs are fun

  6. Anyone who is at all educated about marijuana knows that it is relatively harmless and the war on drugs is a horrible failed policy.

  7. If you need more, like 840 pages of links more , send me an email (bottom of my sig). There seems to be a bit of a difference of opinion on the middle-age decline, though...
