Im using Walmart's activated carbon they look like little pellets. I don't know about crushed carbon but my guess would be its the same.
Id think it would be crushed. the volume of air being passed through a confined space would encounter more actual surface area, less actual space between particles. think of it terms of a strainer/colander... the larger the holes, the more pasta falls thru. Crushed might restrict air flow more, but may scrub better?
yea i used to buy stuff that was in chunks instead of granuals which was great but granuals seem to restrist too much...besides I get 30 pounds of the pelleted stuff for 40 bucks
