Peat Pot Penitence

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Willhog420, Oct 6, 2018.

  1. I started my seedlings in Jiffy Pots.
And ever since, I've been reading threads about how it's a bad idea!
Now all I wanna do is get my babies out of them! Is there anything I can do?! They are autos, so I really don't want to mess with them too much. That's why I thought these pots would be good.
If I can't get them out of the pots safely. Are there any precautions I can take to prevent their negative apects from affecting my grow?

  4. i think u r right about not stressing autos,
for that reason i would leave them in the jiffy pots,
come time to transplant poke a bunch of holes in the pot with a pencil or knife,
try to only cut through the pot and not disturb the roots.!

  5. I kinda figured that was going to be my best option. I was hoping there was some kind of magic answer. But...Live and Learn. I pictured maybe there was some way to make cuts into the pot. Where i could kind of peel it away. Like a banana lol. While simultaneously placing it into the soil. Leaving the root and medium around it, in tact. But thats just silly lol. Hopeful brainstorming.
Will the degrading peat in my medium affect the PH levels??

  6. nope, the roots grow into the peat pot.

very very little if any, those pots don't degrade like loose peat.
