PC vs next gen consoles?

  1. So it's rumored that the next gen consoles will likely be announced this year, I'm curious how do you think they will compare graphically with current PC games? Would it be worth it to purchase the next Playstation or Xbox when it arrives or will PC still be on top?

  2. Purely my opinion:

I think that pc will always be on top of consoles graphically speaking just because of the customization abilities of a computer. Any time a new graphics card comes out, someone with a pc can upgrade their current system.

With a console, you can't really enhance the graphics (yet, and to my knowledge). So even if the console starts off with graphics that surpass computers, someone will make a better graphics card for the pc and thus games will look better. Perhaps I am wrong though.

  3. ya dude pc will always be on top. no contest. dont know why you'd have to ask? where do you think consoles get the technology? i got news for ya, its pcs.

consoles have limitations for a reason, people like simple without having to deal with the technical bullshit or worry about getting the wrong thing. pcs dont have any limitations because parts are interchangeable so essentially you could upgrade your computer to be 100x more powerful then a console. but you have to know the knowledge to do so.

im hoping one day consoles get to be just like pcs - interchangeable and everything. if thats ever made so - i will consider buying a console again. but as for now, fuck ps3, wii, and the 360. bunch of gimmicky bullshit. "pay for xbox live so you can do all the shit you can do on a computer with an internet connection! why do you have to pay? because fuck you! thats why!"

  4. Hardware comes out on a six month timeline. So when they first laid out the hardware for the engineers and for the marketing of the next gen consoles. They were already outdated as the hardware has been out already. The reason Xboxes look as good as they do is because game developers design and optimize games specifically for the hardware of the console. So a console card will perform better than a slightly better pc card cause it's tweaked to run well. But statistically the pc card outperforms.

  5. PC will always perform better, the bad thing is most companies make games for Xbox or PS3 and then port to PC limiting performance, like the guy above me is saying.

But i will stick to PC because its my thing.... Only way id buy one is if it had some amazing new shit, backed up by some amazing games that will never come to the PC. which i dont see happening....

  6. If the steam box rumors have any merit I think they will render the next gen consoles obsolete unless they develop another niche. They won't be able to bank on the common consumer that wants to buy one thing and plug it into their TV.
