I'm going to buy a PC Case to grow out of and I had 2 quick questions: 1. what do I use (i.e. glue, tape, etc.) to attach/line tin foil to the inside of the case (for reflective purposes) 2. How many computer fans will I need and of what CFM to properly ventilate the area? I wanted fresh air in the box every 2.5-5 minutes. Should I use one big exhaust and just have a passive intake? Or should I use an exhaust fan much bigger than the intake fan? What size intake & outtake fan and what CFM should they have?
dont use foil. Just get highly reflective duct tape and cut up a car visor. What do you think, if you use glue instead of tape your plant won't grow? also, in your plans there I don't see anything about wattage and light type. if you want to ask exhaust questions we need to know what kind of heat will need exhausting. i would advise a large PC case with a pair of 120mm fan openings at least. just be passive with intake and understand that fans do not "cool" anything. they just move air from one place to another. the air inside your box will only get as "cool" as the ambient air" Hot in your house? Hot in the box.
Okay so I have a computer tower/box with the outside dimensions being 20inches high, 19 inches wide and 8 inches deep, there is room for one 120mm fan on the back of the box about 2/3 of the way to the top. I was planning on using a 120 watts of cfl's and growing 1 plant using the LST method. Questions: 1. Will 120 watts of CFL's be too much? What is the advised CFL wattage for the space I have? 2. If I used 1 120mm, 60 CFM computer fan as an exhaust fan, would that provide adequate air flow? 3. Do I need an intake fan? a passive intake? Or because the CP case isn't air tight will just having the exhaust cause air to come into the case on its own (without me having to make/cut holes)?
