  1. Hey all,

I've been a long-time lurker on this site and finally decided to register. A little bit about me, I'm in my mid-30's, married, and have been smoking off and on since my mid-teens. When available, I'm a daily smoker as it really keeps my anxiety levels down. I've tried every prescription anti-depressant and anti-anxiety med available (legitimately prescribed) but even both my therapist and my medical doctor finally agreed that weed is by far the most effective drug for me and even went so far as to say that they don't see a need for me to quit as it genuinely does help my mood swings. The bitch of it is that although they agree it works for me, the fact that it's illegal here in the States makes it a moot point. So I wind up scrounging week to week trying to find whatever's available in the area. I can tell you that the supply around here is hardly anything to brag about as regs seem to rule and even an okay score is few and far between. Unfortunately, my age and occupation doesn't really gain me any access into "the scene" as it were, so acquiring new leads is near impossible - which, though it sucks, I can certainly understand. So I stick to my prescription meds and liquor between tracking down a spare 1/2 O here and there.

We've been trying to grow indoors lately, though we've had pretty lame results as we basically just tried treating it like a house plant without any special care. So I've come aboard to check out the various forums to see how we can go about increasing our luck and our yields. We only want a single plant for our own personal use, so I think that actually limits our abilities cuz it seems like indoor growing is an all-or-nothing venture. But alas...we shall see!

Anywho, I don't know how much input I'll be able to provide in these forums, but I'll do what I can to remain an active Member and hopefully get and give some good tips as we progress.

    Cheers!

  2. yo man, what up? im also from NC... hit me up on aim if you want, the sn is tekhnix

  3. hi. i am another new tarheel here, so welcome.. hit me up sometime.. what part of nc r u from?

  4. Welcome to the City man! I'm also from NC, (Kernersville, near Greensboro) Happy to see some North Carolinians on!

  5. Cool! I've been seeing more and more North Carolinians in here. Far out!!! I'm from Charlotte, near the South Carolina border.

  6. I grew up probably 15 minutes from where you live...pretty cool. Right on man.

  7. Greenville area here

  8. Although I'm not from NC, I know exactly where you are coming from about anti-anxiety and anti-depressant medications. Weed is by far much better and probably better for you also. I stopped smoking to get a better job and had to start Klonopin.

  9. Im also from NC. The Raleigh Durham area. Im married with kids etc. Just started smoking again recently after 12 years of no smoking to help me with anxiety. It seems to work, although when I over smoke I get paranoid.

  10. Actually since I've been "without" for a few weeks now, I'm back on Zoloft ~and~ Klonopin. The Zoloft kinda gives me my IDGAF attitude, and the Klonopin helps curb my anxieties. But even when I'm burning, I find I still need the Klonopin more than the Zoloft. I've run the gamut of Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Lexapro, Klonopin and another two whose names escape me at the moment.

But the effects of those aren't as quickly-realized as with herb, nor are they as controllable. Plus, well, I genuinely hate taking prescription meds when all-natural weed works so much better for me.

It's funny, my blood pressure was through the roof and I was on a slew of meds when we came into some good stuff. I have a blood pressure monitor at home and my wife witnessed that literally minutes after taking that first hit my blood pressure nosedived to sub-normal levels and my heartbeat became a little more regular. It was this event which my wife attested to at my therapist and my doctor (both of whom were convinced that I had a ~serious~ weed addiction) and that was the point that they both backed off the pill pushing and rehab suggestions and pretty much greenlighted my personal use of it. Plus, with a steady supply of weed (unbeknownst to my doctor), my blood pressure began lowering to levels which always made the techs recheck for accuracy. And no, this was not due entirely to the BP meds, because even while taking them, my BP was still pretty high - the weed dropped my BP either with or without the meds.

Point is, yes, I do believe that weed can help more than meds alone for stress, depression, anxiety and yes...high blood pressure. And I believe that it's a heck of a lot "safer" being mostly all natural, than any of the pharmaceuticals out there - plus I'd rather give a reliable dealer my money than some big-ass corporation.

  11. Shit dude thats where i live, in union county right over the border in firethorne, do you live in my neighborhood?

  12. just waanted to say in NC to Fuquay Varina

  13. Hey, thank's y'all for the warm welcomes  , and a special shout out to my fellow North Carolinians :hello:

No, we're not in Union County, and truth be told I don't really even know for sure where it is. I do know it's gotta be close by, though, cuz we always hear about Union, Gaston & Catawba counties on the local news. We've only been here a few years and it seems that most of the area residents only know their way to and from work and the directions to the local shopping centers.

No, unfortunately we're in overtaxed, overdeveloped, underserviced and over-corrupted Mecklenburg. But we're itching to make the move south of the border to get the f*ck away from all the bullsh*t politicking, blatant corruption and destruction of the local woodlands :bolt: . Sorry, I'll step down off my soap box now ;)

Anywho, thanks again to everyone for the heys and hellos...I look forward to postin' with y'all in these forums!

    Have a great one!:bongin:

  14. Welcome to GC man, Im a born and bred North Carolinian as well, I'm from and living in Raleigh but soon to be Chapel Hill or Boone

  15. Far out! I've been to Boone several times since moving to Charlotte (never quite made it as far as Raleigh yet) But yeah, I dig me some Boone. Very Bohemian, though with all the neo-hippies, I was surprised to see such a lack of head shops around there. O' course we only stuck to the main drag through town and only ventured down a couple of the side streets to find the tattoo parlor and some wildly painted surf or bike shop up there, so maybe there are a few shops off the beaten path closer to Appalachian State which we didn't see. Cuz lemme tell you, looking at the smiles on the local's faces and their fashion statements, I know for damn sure that they're not that free-spirited and happy about just going to school!:D

But yeah, I ~love~ Boone. Good luck to ya if that's where you wind up.

And since you're a Raleigh native, go 'Canes!! (Sorry, not too much local NHL activity down this way ;) )

    :smoking:

  16. Welcome to the city!!

I totally hear ya on the anti-anxiety effects. I've had anxiety all my life, and especially through college (though i've never sought treatment), however weed has an AMAZING calming effect that cannot be found in precription drugs. It has definitely helped my ADD quite a bit, and leaves me feeling much better than the various meds (adderal, strattera, etc).

    We're glad you've found us....stay awhile! :hello:

  17. Howdy right back at ya.

It's funny you mentioned that it helped your ADD as my old dealer buddy used it for the very same thing. I could see a marked improvement in his demeanor when we would partake as opposed to when he was trying to rely on his meds alone. Without it, he'd wander all around the place and never be able to focus on any one thing for any great length of time. I mean, from an outsider's viewpoint it was kinda funny to watch, but I know my paranoid freakouts were just as entertaining to him, too. Ergo, we became brothers of the bong :bongin:

But yeah, it was amazing, if it had been a while since we had both shared a few bowls, the effects were instant. I would be so wired when I got there, yet within minutes I was just chilling and not really caring about all my other (insignificant) concerns. It allowed me to just re-freaking-laxe and put things in perspective and not sweat the small stuff. Likewise he'd finally be able to sit his ass down on the couch and enjoy the couchlock for a while.

I've been watching these specials on cable called "Hooked:Illegal Drugs and How They Got That Way" or something like that, and it's really sickening at just how all these drugs which started off as all-natural botanicals with such genuinely beneficial effects have been bastardized into some of the hardcore sh*t you see people dying from now, yet weed which is still all natural and has remained unadulterated is being vilified with the same ferocity.

  18. Are you close to ballantyne?im in the weddington/waxhaw area ,i have been watching that show too but i think i have seen most of the episodes its pretty awesome though

  19. Ballantyne? Meh, kinda sorta - more towards Lake Wylie. I am kinda familiar with Ballantyne, South Park, but not so much Weddington & Waxhaw.

But hey, it's great to meet another Charlottean. Cheers!
