Paranoid while smoking

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by travel2much, Nov 19, 2014.

  1. I have a question for you all....everyone on most forums talks about that ever present paranoia when they smoke. I know that certain strains are worse than others or so I have been told but I have been smoking for years here in Colorado and have never felt paranoid. Is it brought on by thoughts of getting caught or is it something psychological that you can't really define?
I guess since I have never had to worry about being prosecuted, is this the reason why I haven't experienced paranoia? Just not sure as even with the strongest landrace sativa, I haven't had it happen...

    Thoughts?

  2.
paranoia comes from anxiety, anxiety is triggered by stress, stress can be caused

by racing thoughts, racing thoughts can be caused by shorter attention spans in

    people prone to panic attacks...

figure out if it's the sativa or indica that does it to you, and stay away from it.

Some types of weed makes ya paranoid, some dont...even in types that arent prone to give paranoia, it can if picked too early...and some that nearly always do, dont if picked late...the cannabinoid profile probably has a lot to do with this, plus your own tendencies to worry...the answers are there..we just dont know them yet.

  4. Personally, it's the latter.  It's the sudden onset of (as QualiD mentioned) an extreme form of anxiety; and it's mainly a feeling that strengthens with imagination and irrational thoughts.  Be thankful paranoia is not an issue for you.  I had a months-long period of paranoid psychosis some years ago.  When my co-workers would speak, the only words I could understand were personal attacks; everyone became my enemy.  Good thing I left that job.

As for cannabis, I seek out high-CBD/low-THC strains.  Huge difference with regards to anxiety and paranoia.

  5. The only paranoia I've ever experienced when smoking marijuana is the paranoia of getting caught by someone who'd be 100% against me smoking weed.

So, for instance - if I'm out in a park with a group of my friends and we reek of marijuana after a smoke-out in the woods and then suddenly see a cop cruiser drive by, or better yet park in the parking lot we're also parked, I'm going to get paranoid that said cop is going to smell the marijuana, or is here because someone complained about us smoking, etc.

I feel that if people legalized it then the paranoia people experience while high would be greatly reduced.  :smoke:
