Paranoid someone got a pic of me tonight... :/

    So earlier tonight, i was out at my usual spot near the side of the house near where the garbage cans are. It's at the front of the house, but there's only the one house next to ours, and then the others across the street. If I was in the backyard, I'd be surrounded by three other houses....so I go to the front to smoke. Have average height wooden fences (around 7 feet or so)

    I should also note that I live at home with my mum.

    It was dark and quiet out, and I took out my pipe, and lit my lighter. Seconds before (or right away, not sure exactly what) when I lit up, I saw this white flash. This has never happened to me before. I'm not sure if some of the weed sparked (I had smoked earlier today, and kept it in the bowl, so it was black, but not total ash yet)...hope that makes sense, or...if one of my neighbours in the house took a picture of me, or what? I've never had this white flash thing happen, and it makes me really nervous >.< I'd hope my neighbours wouldn't say anything, but am not sure....

    When I inhaled, I heard this high pitched whistling sound, I'm suspecting it was from some of the weed that had gotten stuck in the hole at the bottom of the bowl, not sure. I don't have a grinder yet, and I just pulled this little bit out, and put it in, didnt bother to separate it out or anything.


    It was just one white flash of light that I saw, there was no noise that I can recall. I listened for footsteps, or other sounds of movement, and didn't hear anything at all. But I was totally freaked out. I want to say (and hope) it was just a spark or something, but am not sure. The paranoid/worried part of me is going overboard that it was someone.

    I just took two hits, then put away my pipe and quietly walked in the garage like normal.

    I should say that this week is the first time I've started smoking at home. Before then, I didn't have access to it since I came back home, and was out of town for the summer (I smoked then). I started on Monday, and have been out every night since, but I vary my times...last night was aorund 9, tonight was around 8:40, Tuesday was around 10pm, you get the idea.

    I'm paranoid that one of the neighbours took a picture of me....and that they'll mail it to my mum or tell police or something. None of their porch lights or anything were on (they were last night), and I think the light was on from our place (it turns on whenever someone goes near the garbage cans)-but can't remember now. I ddin't go over to ask them right after it happened, as I was lit, but am wondering if I should go talk to them tomorrow?

    Would it seem suspicious/make things worse if I went and asked them if someone took a picture last night?

    Or should I just not worry about it, and just check the mail/doorstep for any suspicious envelopes or notes from law enforcement or them.

    Or...should I just calm down and try to find another location to smoke at? FYI: My room is out of the question, it's right next to my mum's >.<

    Sorry for the long rant....am still a bit buzzed. Any advice, throughts, or words would be much appreciated! Merci! ^_^

    police can't do anything your mom can yell at you o well thats what you get for smoking at home if the parents are not cool with it either move out or respect your that you mom is not cool with it and don't smoke there as far as the flash maybe neighborhood watch?? guess your going to be labeled as the bad kid now

    I suspect she's cool with it, as we've talked about weed and how we both think it should be legalised, I told her I'd smoked once in a group convo several months ago (an acquaintance randomly asked her, me, another neighbour and her daughter if we smoked, and the daughter and I said yes) and Mum never had any negative reaction to it. I just haven't informed her I smoke yet.

    I have all sorts of labels, some good some bad, I don't let it affect me too negatively.

    Still am stumped about flash, but am still planning to change locations anyways.

    Well if she is cool with it ask to go inside and the cops can't do shit to you for having smoked weed so really nothing to worry about.if you don't care about rep unless it gets online then you could probably sue or somthin I don't know for sure

    Sounds like my digital camera, it makes that noise so I know when the flash is ready to be used and will avoid redeye in the picture. Sounds like you need a new place to light up away from prying eyes. Another option is to use a smoke buddy inside.

    Police can't do shit, all they'd have is a photo of you smoking something from a pipe, could well be tobacco. As for your mum, if you think she's cool with it just tell her. She might even know already, could lead to a family smokeout :smoking:

    You said the pic was taken right as you light up, correct?

    What are the chances your neighbor was sitting at their window, camera in hand, ready to snap a picture of you? They literally would've had to sit there until you came out, if ever. And if they did that, well my friend your neighbor has bigger issues than you

    If you're really worried about it, you should let your mum know (considering that she already seems cool with smoking) about it and possibly ask if you could just smoke in the house or the garage or something, rather than sitting out front of your house.

    It's a lot less sketchy to smoke a joint out front of your house, but people don't smoke tobacco in bowls; assume that most people know what they're used for and act accordingly if you want to assuage your fear on the matter. If you're standing out front of your house and your neighbors have a plain sight view of you, you're in public; if you're inside your dwelling however, that is a different story.

    op no one took a pic of you, i bet you were just anxious and made it up in your head, your neighbor would have to be bat shit crazy to do that. Besides, surprisingly, the police really have much better things to do than consider as evidence candid pictures of people presumably smoking up outside on their own property, at night. relax.

    I smoke at my front door people walk past some stop and look some carry on walking I dont care I was told by a police officer years ago that as long as you smoke within the boundaries of your own home and your smoking personal amounts its not actually a criminal offence and the police can NOT arrest you only confiscate your weed.

    I don't know what planet you're living on, but if a cop walks by your house and you are standing out front smoking illegal cannabis, he has the grounds to conduct a warrentless search on your home and seize any contraband in said dwelling. Its still illegal if you're in plain view of the public without a fence to act as a barrier of view between you and the surrounding premises.

    It's called the Plain View Doctrine, check it out.
