So i read the sticky on cleaning my glass pipe and it said i could use a paper clip to scrape the resin out of my bowl. Is this really safe? I mean, I dont have alcohol to use and the outside is clean but inside the bowl is literally black. Its gross. So can i really stick the end of paper clip in there to get it out? If not/or if you have a better idea please let me know.
depending upon the glass, if you have shitty china glass pipe you can risk scratching it. Its only good for the super hard resin buildup. iso and salt is like $6 for a months supply at the store... just go get some of that as well.
If you're worried about scratching the glass, plain aluminum is much softer than glass so it's pretty much impossible to do. You need hard anodized or heat treated metal to scratch something like glass. If you're worried about breaking the bowl, which is a much more understandable concern, just avoid the bottom of the bowl by the hole where the glass is the thinnest. I have taken out a cheap bowl or two by cleaning that area too hard with a toothpick or something, but that was from the top. If you just go in from the bottom GonG joint and move the paperclip in a circle like a Q-tip you should place very little stress on the glass and even if your paperclip is some super-hard heat-treated little demon spawn it will only make a circular scratch which is much less ugly than a bunch of straight line scratches.
