Pakistan Ryder micro cab

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by lbk, Jan 6, 2013.

  1. What about something like this? It's the design for my second smaller cab for a mother/clones. Would this work with an HPS (any wattage really, except 600 or 1000 because that's just too much for comfort in a cab imo) on a bigger scale and remove the heat (obviously with a stronger exhaust fan)? Design

  2. i dont see why it wouldnt work.

  3. Few pics from day 33-

I made a few upgrades to the cab including the false floor, a better mount for my LED, etc...

Unfortunately I had to ditch the CFLs. It hit 86 F in the box and I turned them off. I'm shooting for nothing short of ideal here. I'm considering ordering another Blackstar 100w for when this becomes my micro SoG flower chamber. That or upgrade the exhaust to two carbon filtered axial fans.

Anyone have any input here? This duct booster just won't cut it and noise reduction is my primary goal. Plus it's a little sad when I have to choose between supplemental light or my carbon filter. :(

  4. For one small plant you don't need a fan. I had a box with large plants and no vent at all. The plants absorb CO2, and then the weight of the air is slightly different. You get natural convection.

CFLs are totally bad for heat, yes. This is why I don't want to deal with them anymore. They need enclosures as well, high voltage, and so forth.

I used some 100 Watts of CFLs, maybe even close to 500W. The heat was so much I needed a large desktop fan to blow all the time.

  5. you should always have air circulation.....

  6. It's Day 34-
Check it out. I took the plunge and rewired a home depot 70w. The pyrex tube is on the way. I'm going to be building this 4" cool tube. Today, I am moving my inline fan outside the cab and into a DIY sound trapsuch as a styrofoam cooler. This will then be ducted to a 5 gallon bucket to serve as a filter and silencer. This should make the box quiet. Then I will add an enclosure to surround the fan equipment of wood so I can hang a drape over the whole thing. Mega stealth.

Also, check out this new cab I built. I'm working on the final touches and my PL-L lights are still in the mail, but this thing is genius. The pot in there contains a freshly germinated Bubba 76 seed soon-to-be mother :D

  8. Day 35-

is this bud porn yet? She smells of rich pine, maybe a hint of sweet. I believe someone earlier in the thread mentioned theirs resembled turkey sausage. To be honest I do kind of get a spicy vibe from it. Maybe that's it.

Either way, I'm very happy with the response to the HPS. These colas are tight and hopefully will finish dense.

  9. ^ Haha, it was mine that smelt of turkey sausage!

Great move on the HPS. From this point on, the buds will grow in size daily...so have fun with that, lol.

The only piece of friendly advice I can pass on is that make sure you have really good ventilation in late flower. I experienced a small amount of bud rot in the largest cola due to stagnant air and high humidity. I think it is because she tends to get super dense as she flowers.

Other than that, Paki Ryder is bombz!

  10. Thanks AE. The ventilation is mediocre. However, i have a true air carbon filter within the cab moving air and pre-scrubbing any odors. The plant is dancing in the wind at all times.

Humidity is never an issue. I live in a semi-arid climate and these days I'm ranging from 15% lights on to 30% lights off. Lower than what most people consider optimum, but there's a world of support out there for the claim that low humidity encourages resin.

  11. Woah, we live in really different climates. Where I am, I see pretty much 80% RH 24/7. Lucky you.

  12. The low humidity is nice, but this area makes national news at least twice a year for massive dust storms. If you've seen the more recent "Mission Impossible" movie, imagine that wall of dust that hits as Tom Cruise is climbing that building in Mumbai. We've been in an effective drought (little rain here and there) for about 10 years.

And the worst part is, the summer temps here easily are 105 on the worse days. So hot you don't want to breathe. But hey, at least it isn't hot AND humid like the cities a few hours to the south.

Dang, that sucks about the dust storms. But 105 is something I can relate to. We hit 100-110 degrees F at least 20 days out of the year where I am at. Unfortunately, I am one of those guys who gets to live in hot/humid/sticky climate. Take a shower and go outside for 15 minutes and you will have sweaty balls.

Oh and I think that the building Tom Cruise was dicking around on in the Mission Impossible movie was actually shot in Dubai, not Mumbai. Lol, not busting your chops, just thinking out loud!

    Get an update up bro!

  14. Yeah it was Dubai, on topic I wanna see an update too.

You guys are right - it was Dubai.

    I was :smoking:

Update you want? Update it is. Sorry I've been a little quiet. I've been busy with the start of the new semester. But here we are on Day 42! Exactly six weeks since she poked her head out of the soil.

I've got three sproutlings with her today. The smaller containers are my soon-to-be mothers (closer one Bubba 76, farther one OG Kush). The sprout in the rectangle container is an Amnesia auto (planning to LST; should time well and be done in time for the clones to have room :D

On to the Paki - She is swelling every day. No sign yet of a color change in my calyxes. Also not a lot of trichome production yet. But I can tell it's coming. The main cola appears it will become one giant, dense nug. The HPS really was a good move. Anyone got an idea how long this strain usually goes? I'm betting 3 more weeks, but please do weigh in if you have any experience with a harvest time...

Also, a little off topic but anyone here ever store bud long-term? I'm talking 1 yr or so. The reason I ask is although I'm setup to have all this great dank, I am choosing not to smoke for a while. I'm getting close to graduation and don't want to mess anything up.

Looking nice, the second pic is what I class as a cluster fuck, such tight nodes from the LEDs gives a bunch of compact bud sites...

Only you can determine the harvest date but from the pics uploaded you have a fair few weeks to go ;)

For long term storage you need to cure 100% then just keep it in a dark place in an airtight jar.
I have a mate who buries his in the garden,

FTR a true cure is about 4-6 months ;)

  17. I enjoy that because this LED is hopefully going to keep my SOG within its height limit of 15".

I have a 60x scope and I will check when I see more trichomes. I'm thinking I have another 3 weeks +. This specimen didn't flower until about a week later than what most people say theirs do. I'm just wondering if anyone has theirs in memory (i.e. "I grew mine under ___ and it took ___ days.") just for general purposes. I know what harvest-ready is, just don't want to mess up my flush ;)

And oh yes, much of the harvest from my first grow (Blue Cheese) is still curing. Harvested in 11/2012. A year-long cure may be even better. But, would it preserve better as BHO?

  18. Also, is it healthy for a couple sets of fan leaves to be yellowing (evenly) at this point? I know it's supposed to be the plant taking nutrients from the unnecessary parts.....

I just wonder if it's too early. My first grow lost a lot of fans very early in flower and I think I lost yield as a result...

  19. Don't worry about the yellowing late in flower, you answered ya own question lol.

As for BHO, I've never made any or read much up on it, I do understand the process and what it is tho, I'm a QWISO or Bubble man myself, have a read up I'm sure there's a shit load of info out there :)

  20. It's Day 45-

Started LST on the Amnesia Auto (about 1 wk old). Does anyone think this is too early?

Paki is coming along well. I think she's hitting that phase where the weight juct packs on. And it should; I've got about 11000 lumens on 2 sq. ft. here...;)

Ordering a CAP Day/Night Fan speed controller (VSC-DNe model, which adjusts fan speed when near the temp setting) and a Sunleaves 4" Windtunnel inline fan (200 CFM and among the quietest out there). I just have to get these temps down. Per some physics, I've found I'll need about 120 CFM when the summer heat comes just to keep at 85 F. This should do some justice and allow some room if I ever wanted to go 150w
