Paint Coming Off Pipe After Washing?

Discussion in 'Smoking Accessories Q&A' started by Chacal, Apr 24, 2016.

  1. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg My friend let me borrow his spoon pipe, and this morning I washed it out with some hot water (there was a lot of black specks of weed trapped in the body of the pipe). However, where those black clumps were, there's no paint! It seems when I removed the weed the paint came off too! Should I have just not used hot water?

  2. Haha that's resin. You cant just clean out a pipe with hot water unfortunately. That pipe looks like it should be clear when Clean.

  3. Yeah, that's not paint. That's a really dirty pipe. Hot water is going to break apart the resin build up a little, but the only way to really clean it is 99% ISO or a glass cleaner of some kind. When it's clean it's going to be clear glass. Your buddy maybe building up resin on purpose though, so watch out.

  4. wow how fun

  5. That's what I was thinking, it's hard to get a picture of but when you look down the mouthpiece of the pipe it appeared that there was a thin veneer of paint that was still on there, except where the really big clumps had been.

  6. Pipe might not be of the best quality then. If you only washed it with hot water and your friend didn't tell u not to do so (for whatever reason) then i wouldn't worry about it.

Also since you said it's in the mouthpiece that's fine as well, I barely look at the mouthpiece before inhaling, so I'd say it's the least noticeable part of the pipe.

  7. Nah thats resin, pipes arent painted the color is in the glass itself

  8. Its color changing glass
