Packing you bowl

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Lovinmaryjane, Dec 28, 2010.

  1. I've heard it's bad to stuff your bowl, like squish as much as you can in and crush the weed,
Soppusedly it's supposed to packed lightly
N I've also heard that it's better to take the stems n seeds out of your bowl(seeds I can understand)
N that by grinding your weed befor you pack it you get a better smoke?
Is any of this true, n how much of a difference does it make?

    Thanks fellow stoners

  2. I don't think the first part is true, most people usually do the opposite, but smoking stems is known to give headaches, & grinding your bud allows it to burn more evenly.

  3. Grinded weed is just easier to smoke. If you pack too tight you can't pull anything. Seeds give you a head ache. Stems contain very little cannabinoids. When i grind i sometimes leave little stem bits in, mostly out of laziness, but most of the time i pick them out.

  4. I've been wondering the same only for my vaporizer - I have a v-tower extreme. I've tried to experiment a little - just pouring the stuff in from my grinder and going for it, and then packing the next one down a little bit. Sometimes I feel like the loose worked better, and other times the packed. Maybe it's because I'm stoned and I can't really tell.

My theories: Loose is better because there's greater surface area, so the air passing through liberates more vapor from the weed. -OR- Packed is better because the air moves more slowly through the weed, heating it more, liberating more vapor.

I've got through the same thing with high fan speed vs slow fan speed....which liberates more vapor?

Anyone have anything definitive on this? When I'm stoned, I can make anything sound reasonable in my head. :p

It pretty simple. The less weed you put in the less amount burns needlessly.

When you pack the bowl it tends to continue to smoke where as if you stick a straight nug into a bowl it will just burn the outer layer and slowly crumble and burn upon itself. If you pre-grind it will continually burn and crumble upon itself.

If you want to get the max THC out of each bowl its imperative you don't do anything but put it in the pipe and smoke it.

  6. Great advice for a pipe/bong....I've wondered about that, too. But what about for a vaporizer?

  7. Same thing unless your vaporize isn't of high quality.

Assuming it isn't than maybe it'd be better to grind it in order to get it going faster.

I only grind my bud when I'm rolling blunts and I have two reasons for this:

A.) Makes it easy and smooth to roll
B.) Since blunts and joints tend to use a significant amount of weed, generally, I will use shake or kief'd bud for rolling and save the kief for pipes.

  8. Doesn't seem like it would be the same, actually. The fire consumes the weed....a vaporizer just heats it, and it seems as if you need that extra surface area. Depends on how dense the bud is, I suppose....

  9. packing the bowl down all the way makes it harder to smoke in my opinon
yes your supposed to take stems and seeds before you toke
grinding gives you a better burning bowl and is better than hand breaking because when you hand break it takes away some of the thc

    hope that helps
