ozone generator?

  1. i remidiate mold in houses for a living and we use ozones for fire jobs to get rid of the smell. ozones ARE NOT a effective way to get rid of mold. i dont have any experience with them in a gardening sense but from what i do know i wouldnt use them, the stuff it pumps out will jack ur lungs up, so i wouldnt feel comfortable putting it around a plant that im gonna smoke. it can also jack up ur house. for instance caulking around windows elastic in underwear stuff like that just falls apart from prolonged ozone exposure. ive heard ppl try to say it kills mold but in my opinion the only way to get rid of mold is to physically remove it. an ozone machine that is strong enough to "kill mold" is probably strong enough to kill your plants and maybe even you, if your not carefull, remember the stuff it pumps out is not meant for you to breath.

i would add some ventilation from your room out a window permanently(not another room you dont want to spread the mold) to clean out the air and get rid of the extra humidity. take a damp (not wet, remember mold likes water, just damp) cloth and wipe down all the walls and floor, clean the plants the best you can if they are even salvageable, and remove the top layer of soil.(like i said that IF they can even b saved)

as far as machine help, i would find something cheap with a HEPA (high efficiency particle apparatus) filter in it to clean the mold out of the air.

i hope it works out for u dude, sorry mold sucks, just remember to monitor the humidity in the air and dont over water your plants. i dont kno if this applies to plants too but generally in my line of work its a warning sign off poss mold growth if the air has a relative humidity level of over 60%

    good luck

  2. sorry but i forgot to ask, is this just mold on ur plants? or is it on the drywall too? cuz if its on ur walls u prob wanna cut out the drywall too depending on what caused the mold

  3. Ozone is a bit harsh but you dont have to run it 24/7. I run a generator in my room and there is no smell at all and my plants are looking great. Also you can flip off the generator when working with your plants. Im not quite sure about the mold though.

  4. ozone is a bad fix for smell as well. ozones are built to get the smell out of things, but the small your plants are producing is in the air so all you need is some kind of fan with a charcoal filter in it ducting out a window to create a negative pressure so the smell cant leave your room and the air ducting outside wont have that sweet sweet aroma

  5. MOLD IS ONLY ON PLANTS. ITS MORE OF A GREY FUNGUS..
I RUN THE GENERATOR FOR 10 SECONDS OF EVERY MINUTE.
SINCE HOOKED UP MY GROW ROOM HAS NO SMELL BUT OF CLEAN AIR THE FUNGUS IS ONLY ON PLANT LEAVES.
IVE BEEN RUNNING A SULFER BURNER AT NIGHT FOR 4 HOURS WITH A HOUR OF VENTILATION BEFORE AND AFTER SULFER WITHOUT LIGHTS.
    ITS SO FAR INNEFFECTIVE.
IVE HEARD THE GREY FUNGUS IS IN THE PLANT DNA NOT JUST THE LEAVES. IS THIS TRUE?
I PUT A FEW OF THE PLANTS OUTDOORS AND IT CLEANED UP ALL OF THE FUNGUS OFF THEM . I MIGHT MOVE EVERYTHING OUTDOORS FOR A WEEK IF THE SULFER DOES NOT WORK. HOPEFULLY IT WONT FUCK THE LIGHT SCHEDULE UP TOO MUCH////
    ANY IDES OTHERWISE?

  6. if moving the plant outside worked i would do that, hopefully it wont stress the plants but if you dont get rid of the fungus the plants wont b any good anyways right? oznone in engeniered to get rid of smell so im sure your mot smelling anything. its like if a couch is covered in soot and you set it in a room with an ozone for a few days it wont smell like smoke anymore but the soot would still be there. the smell of the mold isnt the problem so i would say put them outside. and while theyre outside put a box fan in the window blowing outside (hopefully not toward the plants) and wipe down the entire room. im not a fungus specialist but inm sure it lets off exotoxins just like mold, thats y i would wipe down the room. thats what i would do anyways. hope that helps. and leave the fan in the window for a full day. i kno it all sounds like overkill but its better to b safe than sorry right?

  7. they will be going outside this week ill let you kno how it goes lol
