i have a 7x4 space and was wondering if 2 1000w lamps would be too much? i kno the rule of thumb is 4x4 per 1000w but was wondering if a foot less would be a no no....any advice???
I run half the wattage during veg as I do during flower and it works great for me If it was me I would just use the second light In flower to help the plants pack on bigger buds and for better canopy penetration... IMO
Yes, the issue with the 2 1000s will be controlling the heat. You can probably cram all your vegging plants under 1 1000.
2 x 1000 if they are cooltubed then your very alright and more then alright, buy a 6 in ch blower then your good 2x1000 in your grow room fit perfectly there
I make professional grade grow boxes that yield an ounce a week off a 600 watt light and they take up a footprint of 4 ft by 2 ft and its mobile on casters and fits through doorways if you are interested. If you have never grown before, this is a plug-n-play system that looks like a piece of furniture and it will be hard to mess up. All of the guess work is taken out. I never recommend less than a 5x5 for a 1000w, and have experimented and came to the conclusion that a 4x4 does not allow for maximum yields under 1000w. I ran two 4x4 tents, 4 cuts from the same mother, same organic soil, same veg time and size going into flower. Only difference was wattage. Long story short, the 1000w did yield more, but only marginally so. It did not justify the extra 400w of eclectricity. We're talking about a zip or so more than a 600w when you can pull a half lb or more with a 400w. In a 5x5 with the same cut under 1000w I yielded significantly more (7 zips, I believe)
Not sure if you know about flipping from 1 light to another on a single ballast. Flip ever hour or two and you can put the lamps closer to the canopy and get more coverage while avoiding hotspots and never running more than 1000 watts. Peace
It was Mosca's c99 BX1, pineapple pheno. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you can't run a 1000w in a 4x4, many do. It results in some crazy dense nugs of high quality bud. I'm just looking at it in terms of efficiency. You'll yield more in a 5x5 than a 4x4 with the same light, and even more in a 6x6. Based on Tom Hill's experience, I prefer to run a 1000w in a 6x6 myself. Tom Hill (The breeder - Deep Chunk, X18, and Haze) runs a 8x8 with a single 1000w bulb and gets stellar results. He says the very outsides leave a little to be desired, but still produce good quality nugs, just not as dense as the stuff closer to the light. So I figure I'd go with a 6x6 and eliminate that "very outside" all together.
I agree with what your saying. The question was about overtaxing and yes you can overtax. 1000 watts in 4x4 is more than enough, but issues with heat and power consumption have to be factored, as well as other variables. Yes you can run 2000watts in 7x 4 but I think 1200 would be ideal. Peace.
im running 3000watt under a 4x8 tray,, and i personally think i could add more light on the side for better llight penetration and yield.... :O with experience maybe 6x600 watt would be better than a 3x 1000 but anyway... light is never anough, light is never enough,LIGHT IS NEVER ENOUGH,, MORE LIGHT = PLANTS HAPPY,,
Wrong. There is such a thing as too much light. Also, you can put 4000w in a 5x5 tent. Doesn't mean you should. Yeah, you'll yield more with 4000w than you will with 1000w, but then you're paying for 3000w of electricity and only getting a couple more oz. You're already hurting your yields by using that much light over so small of an area. You could run two of those trays with the same amount of light and nearly double your yield.
