Oversized Three Fingered Leaves

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Foxymel, Mar 4, 2019.

  1. So, my Auto Tangerine Dream is about at 4 weeks and has been a bit of a slow poke. She had a nice growth spurt since yesterday maybe because I started LST. But I don’t know if this is normal. Her biggest leaves only have three fingers and they’re way bigger than other leaves. I’m also wondering if they are blocking sun? Here’s a link to my grow journal.

    AK-47 Autos Organic Grow

I just started some AK-47 Autos from Growers Choice and they’re doing great so far. I’m hoping they grow faster than my TD. I’m going to grow one of the AK-47 outside and two inside to have an experimental comparison. For the next two months it will be high in 70’s and low in 60’s with nice humidity and not much rain. I’m hiding my TD among my tomato plants. I’m wishing I would have started lst sooner so she’d be shorter, but she seems to be showing more of the Sativa dominance. She has some preflowering going on. I hope that doesn’t mean she’s not going to veg much longer cause I won’t be having much of a yield. But it’s my first time growing so I’ll just take it as a learning experience and hope my AK-47’s do better.

  2. Oh, I wanted to add something. In my garden im growing veggies and herbs and the only ones who are doing as good as my girl is the basil. Most of my garden was a bit wilted because I should have watered yesterday. But my girl seemed very happy about not having water. But people make it seem like MJ is the hardest plant in the world to grow and it’s really not. It’s just a matter of yield. My weed plant wipes out the rest of my garden! I don’t understand how she can look so healthy and grow so slowly!

  3. I can't speak on too much of what you've mentioned other than the 3 finger leaves. you said its an Auto which means it would have to be part Ruderalis(this is where the auto comes from). you mentioned Sativa dominant so it might be 70% sativa- 20% Indica- and 10% Ruderalis.

As for trimming them? i'm not sure but I believe most people just let autos do their thing? someone correct me if i'm wrong. I just ordered my first set of Auto seeds and they will be arriving this week.

    keep us posted.

    good luck!

  4. I don't grow autos, but I have read that they can be less productive trained than untrained because their lifespan is so short. On the other hand, I've seen some growers on GC talking about training their autos. Seems strain is a more important consideration than with photoperiod plants when it comes to training.

  5. Yep. I gave a friend some clones of my last seed grow, and kept a couple for myself. He grew his outside in plain soil without any consideration for nutrients or watering, and had a plant that yielded a little over half an ounce of good bud. The same clone I kept indoors on a feeding schedule yielded four ounces. But both his plant and mine were healthy at harvest.

I guess it's like any other vegetable crop. Heavy yield isn't proof of health. ;)

  6. I’ve been growing some autos with good results. I wouldn’t trim them, it can stress them and make them flower early or stunt them and on a limited life cycle that’s bad. If you wanna do some training either do lst or simply tuck the bigger leafs under the smaller bud sites. I tend to just let mine do their things. I topped one of my autos and it stunted it and made it flower, fimmed one and luckily it worked out and now I have a trident looking cola growing lol. Going forward on my auto grows I’m just gonna bend and tie them a little. YouTube “bowl training”. There’s some good videos on there .

  7. Def not doing anything other than a little lst. My girl doesn’t seem to mind that! Maybe I’ll try other things when I have my next batch with 3 plants, but not with just one.
