I just received a CFL reflector hood I bought on ebay, and I've come to discover that the receptacle for the light is oversized... its twice as large as a normal light socket. The CFL I have is a 400w equiv CFL grow light that looks just like the one in the picture on the ebay listing, but it has a normal sized 'plug'. Can I buy an adaptor to use it with this reflector? What kind of receptacle is this anyway? I've never seen it before.
sounds like you got a reflector with a mogul socket(for hps & mh). not sure if you can get an adapter to go from a standard bulb to a mogul socket. you might be better off sending it back saying that it was mis-labeled info and get something that will work for you.
You can buy an adapter for your socket. The socket on your hood is a 'mogul'. The size you need is a 'medium'. Might be able to get one at HD or Lowes Leviton 000-8681 Lamp Holder, Adapter, 600W, 250V
High there, it could be for one of these bigger CFL's like I use for vegging, Im very happy with them. Mine are called envirolights
