ok so ive concluded that its gonna take 400-500 bucks to start a grow. but after these sunk costs what does it take to maintain a grow. so lets say your first grow is done and now your ready to go for round two. you have all the equipment but no other shit. what kind of costs are we looking at in terms of fertilizers ph balance shit, light bulbs(will they last more than one grow?) maybe someone who has been growing for a long time could answer this b.c they know how much there spending to produce x amount of plants. also i would be growing max 3 plants and prob in a closet like set up people say grow your own its free!! but clearly its not free at all.
After the first grow overhead drops significantly, but the amount of money really depends on your grow size. Every grow you'll need some new soil. Lights should last longer than one grow. A CFL last around 10,000 hours, and a 3 month grow cycle is about 1,200 hours of lights on time. The amount of nutes needed basically depends on plant size. I only grow two at a time so my nutes will last me through many grows. Then there's also electricity and seeds. Overhead for me on a per plant basis is probably less than $50.

i havent been growing for long i am actually on my very first grow. it all depends on what kind of lights you are looking to get plus growing medium. if you want to grow in a closet you probably want to get a 250w HPS you will pay about 160-200$ for the ballast ( or up to 250 for a 400w), another 20-60$ for the light depending if you want a top of the line light and anywhere from 30-80$ for a reflector. if you are growing in a closet you are going to need good ventilation so you want to get rid of the warm air and pull in fresh air you can do this with two bathroom ceiling fans for no more than 80$. Fertilizer I got the NovaFlora series by general hydroponics and they are very good 32$ for the 946ml Grow and 32$ for the 946ml Bloom and if you are growing 3 plants they should last you for about 2-3 harvest. Distilled water is about a 1 dollar per gallon I dont use soil so I dont really know how fast are you going to ran out but i go used about 5 gallons every 2 weeks when i first stared and about 6 gallons every week with fully matured plants. I spend about 70$ a month on electricity just for my two 400w HPS lights. Also be ready to spend about 50-100 in random things that you are going to need like thermometer, HP up + down, soil, pots, etc. so... Ballast 180$ Light 30$ Reflector 40$ Fans 80$ Nutrients 64$ Electricity 30$ a month Seeds that depends on you. Cloning kit 50$ Again I just started doing this so i am not a pro but i will not forget the pain the my wallet suffer about 2 months ago.
