  1. Are you runnin Red Headed Step Sister?

    Hydroponic Organic Science Stuff

  2. No that would be femmed seed from Clone only Rascal's OG aka Fire OG. aka Fire Cut of the original OG. The original clone did not express red very much a little bit in the buds if it got cool and I think it contributes to the dark edges on the leaves with a blue hue to them. You would see red in well made oil and sometime a red sap would come out at wound. The selfed seeds from the clone although do show multiple phenotypes the "red pheno" with the red traits amplified and "green pheno" were red traits are suppressed like original clone. Another is plant structure, which is separate from color traits, some do not elongate as much and tend to form a bush structure.
So of my two plants I have the "green" with normal structure and a "red" with shorter structure. I am very much after those specific traits and that "red" pheno so far is exactly what I want.

  4. Been unfucking my greenhouse the last few days, still a mess but going to give it a second bomb tomorrow and then the day after everything it getting high concentration bleach wash. There are many things I would like to do in there but lack money for now. Primary is getting a real floor in there, the gravel has worked but it is hard to keep clean. So I intend to install pavers on a sand base, I actually have 1/4 of the greenhouse sectioned off that way already. My next major thing to address is heat I have used propane and a wood stove in the past but has never been implemented in a good fashion. For finishing girls my portable propane heater on a 5 gal tank works ok but can burn through them fast. Later on though it is not enough to do propagation in my greenhouse and requires additional heat. For a few seasons I paired up electrical heat but that was limited by how much power I can move out there. So later I went to a cheap wood stove, which worked reasonable but I would often find myself out there in the dead of winter trying to keep the temps up. I eventually could get a 7 hour burn on that cheap stove at a diminished heat output but that would still require me loading it at 1-2 am to make it through the rest of the night and then still have to run propane on the shitty nights. Either way it becomes costly to heat my little 256 sqft box of plastic and sticks. I am running right now single layer 6 mil, which has a few holes from fore mentioned cheap ass woodstove. I have some 6mil from the hardware store I will throw on top to create a double layer and also prevent leaking from the little holes in old plastic. This is not normal greenhouse plastic so expect it to be garbage within a year but it is way cheaper then switching over to sollex which I eventually want to do. My biggest return would be on trapping more heat but that is also the most costly so looking to eventually add a 75k wood stove with a 12hour burn time because this covers me until the sun comes out and heats things up in the winter. Until I can make the changes needed to do that I will probably add a 20k propane in addition to my 18k. It cost more per month to run but come Jan I will have over 500 pepper plants (30 some black 2x2 trays) to take care of and they do not like being cold. The advantage is if I want to run a winter crop I already have a heated space to do so. I should be fine to finish out the longer Thias bu I may find myself having to work around them. As of right now I hope to have everything going into the greenhouse in there by the end of the month. Another important thing will be I am most likely going to have to dry my crop in my greenhouse if everything makes it because I do not have space elsewhere for it right now.

  5. Bleached the gravel in the greenhouse and got it mostly sorted out but still have a bunch of stuff in there. I am moving five plants in there tomorrow and have already separated them from the other girls. This actually opened up a bunch of space for the girls remaining outside and moved them a little to let more light and air in.

The GS1 is a boy and is very quickly progressing in flower. I pulled him away from the others and will cut some tops before they open to grab pollen. If I let him go I would screw up so many grows, he is big enough to let off some serious pollen and I happened to live in the "trade winds" around here.

Even though she is not exactly the original "Fire cut" OG Kush she is a S1 and given this expression of the genetics VS the original cut I would personally say she fits her name better. I picked her out of a group of S1 plants because I knew she would be pretty now hopefully she will also produce some prime smoke like the original clone.

  6. I moved both Thais, the White Lavender, SWR 17 and WWxROG into the greenhouse today. They did not get too beat up from the process but they are wider then the door and the White Lavender was almost to tall. They will probably not stay exactly where they are at in there but it gets them in. Currently it is about 105 F in there si will have to keep an eye on water until fall sets in.
    IMG_1299.JPG IMG_1300.JPG IMG_1301.JPG

By removing those five plants inside the greenhouse plus moving the male elsewhere, a good amount of space was opened up for the remaining plants to spread out a bit more. The canopies now at least have a little air gap in between them and it is easier to move about in there.

  7. I removed a little more than half of the Gs1 and kept some of the main branches. I am watching him close and will cut off branches right before they drop and put them in a glass of water on parchment to collect pollen. He is very quickly maturing so should have pollen soon and hopefully not all over my girls. It is sort of risky keeping him about but I eventually will get more Grinspoon seeds and want to have pollen on hand.

I also have some 1-14-0 guano on order and tomorrow will get a 50 lbs bag of alfalfa meal from the feed store. So will have the stuff I need to make flower tea to encourage some sticky dense buds. Now that I have more room in the garden I can setup the tea barrel back with most the girls.

  8. I gave the Strawberry Cough 1/3 cup of blood meal mixed in with a jug of water today and then sprinkled 2 tbs of blood meal on the top soil of the CBD. The Strawberry Cough is normally a paler green but she has had a far greater number yellowing leaves then any other of my girls so decided to bump nitrogen some slow this rate down. The CBD has also had some yellowing but no where near as much as the Cough but you can tell that she has tapped out the soil for nitrogen supply and is having to make up for it by cannibalizing leaves. The others for the time being seem to have ample reserves for the time being but there is still a chance that the slow release nitrogen, which should be the majority of it at this point, will be unable to keep up with growth. I will pick up some fast nitrogen with alfalfa applications but looking at only doing 2 more on my girls one in a few days and then another part ways through Sept..I am going to go with 16 cups to 50 gallon water with no air stone just going to let it steep for maybe 1-2 days and then add 4 Cups molasses and 4 Cups Epsom salt to the brew and then add air for 12-24 hours. I should get a nice potassium boost with this and also a nice dosage of triacontanol. Then about 5 days later I will apply a high phosphorous tea and then individually apply nitrogen if need via a blood meal top dress. I will also need to pick up some peat to cut a new bag of soil conditioner down to cover up the tops of my pots the roots are pretty much all the way up to he surface and so thick on some of the girls I can not even stratch top dressings in.

  9. In the mix I also added 250ml of Protekt potassium silicate, which should place it in the 100 ppm mark roughly. It is not an "organic" ingredient but it is something that I am comfortable with using although usually as foliar for silica but it also carries a bunch of potassium which I want to spike right now. I also added 1 fl oz of sticker/spreader to help with emulsifying the triacontanol in the solution. Last night I decided to hit a couple girls with the green juice; (outside) the CBD, White Widow, Strawberry Cough, (greenhouse) Chocolate Thia 5&7, SWR 17, WWxROG 6, and the White Lavender. I gave each roughly a jug of juice which droped my tank to 35 gallons so I added back water to 50 gallons, which will drop my silca level to about 70 ppm but given I am letting this steep longer there should be more or less the same dosage of potassium later on. The remaining plants and Strawberry Cough will get the remaining batch on Monday after dding other ingredients and aerating. I also placed some trellis netting on all my outside girls to help support the branches once the rains come. They have already gotten rained on a couple times in the last week but it has been mild and not enough to heavily weigh them down but enough to get an idea of what branches may need more support. It was a bitch getting them on and I had to break out the 8' ladder. It mostly fit in there but my nudge some bags over to make a little more space to make it easier to setup the ladder come harvest time.
They Gs1 male has really started to bunch up pollen sacks and I may cut then ends later today and transfer them to a jar of water. I wish I had a spot to just let him go but every morning I am afraid to go outside and find he has started dropping and my girls are ready for it.

  11. The green juice is now brown juice and bubbling away. I did not have any EWC or compost but figured my not try soil conditioner so loaded up 10 qts of it the brew. The reason behind it is that it comes loaded up with beneficial fungi and that is what I want a shot of to move phosphates. The fungi require roots to survive so this is going to my girls tomorrow and it should already be present in the soil but I want to encourage an even higher presence to prep for my guano tea coming up next.

The boy is down and now is a bunch of cut flowers in a mason jar. I stretched plastic wrap over the op with a rubber band to hold it on. I then just stabbed branches through the top as I cut them off.

  14. She does that, I actually topped her once and she still wanted to send up a single main. There is a side branch that goes up midway from topping but that is the only thing to break her form. She stacked really tight also every branch is going to be a spear. I figure that this is due to her being root bound, the bag is tight as a drum Come some day in October we will know for sure when I pull that ball out. I really needed the extra time to fill out the 100s and even more for the 500. Next year my no later then date for transplanting is May 10th and even earlier on the 500 (or what ever large pot I do.) I plan on using half my outdoor bags to to re run cuts of some of these girls to see what difference the extra time will make. My guess is that they will stack a lot tighter if I get them roots tighter.

  15. Today the girls got some tea which smelled sort of like goats. When I say goats I mean after you have just cleaned there pen and it is not an offending odour but instead the smell of hay, alfalfa and goat.
I first watered all my bags down good to about 25% of their volume. The small bags got two buckets(2 gallon) of water then the 30s got three. Then for the big bags I used a bubbler I bought this morning which I timed how fast it took to fill the bucket which was about 12 seconds and used that time to figure out how long to water each bag. So about 2 1/2 minutes to add 25 gallons to a 100 and then 12 1/2 minutes to add 125 to the 500. I watched for run off but it seemed minimal and I moved the bubbler around while I did it. Next season I am going to try and keep track of the water I use and by using the bubbler it will be easier. I highly recommend anyone running large bags to get one. It allows one to open up the water flow all the way without washing out the surface layer of soil like what happens with a hose or bucket. Anyways after drenching them I let them sit for a couple hours and then added blood meal to a few girls and a fresh top coat of soil conditioner to all. The girls that got blood meal were both the ROGs, and the Strawberry Cough at 2 oz then 1 oz to CBD and Master Purple. This was then watered in with tea with 20 gallons going to the 500, 4 gallons to the 100s, 1 gallone to the 30s and about 1/2 to the 20s. The sediment at the bottom then was devided up amongst the outside girls and scratched into the surface layer of soil. Also last night I found a seed in my rolling try but not sure what it is, there is three possibilities my Cindy 99 or some store bought Panama Red or Pennywise. I am leaning towards the Panama Red because it was the last to get broken up in there but no way to know without growing it out. Maybe I will use it next season.

I also took some good pics to compare after a few days of getting the juice.

  17. OK one more picture just because it looks cool. School has started and there is a house full of kids so I will be up earlier than normal. So after seeing MM post I will be doing to do a morning bud pic atleast until I don't. I edited it some but the flare was natural.

  18. Been extremely busy lately so have only had minimal time to spend in the garden. I have some pictures from the other day and will load them tonight. My guano finally got here today so getting setup to run some tea which I will apply Monday. I am also defoilating some of my girls, I got the green pheno ROG done so far and she looks naked now and hoping to get another done before dark today. Will be back later tonight.

  20. So far the Green Rog, CBD, White Lavender, and SWR 17 have gotten the Charley Brown Christmas tree thing going on. Then the red Rog was stripped around the top but I left significantly more leaves on her mostly because I think her leaves are pretty. They look pretty ugly right now but that will change fairly quickly as the flowers swell up with the extra light they get and the fact the plants have less places to devote resources. The rest I wont get to until Monday and Tuesday. I will probably hold off on doing the Thai for awhile because they are just starting to flower and then the Strawberry Cough because she is not as healthy as the other girls. I have my tea brewing with 3 c1-14-0 guano, 4 c molasses and 1 c potassium silicate in 50 gallons of water which should go to my girls on Monday. Given that I had to wait for the guano it has set my tea schedule back a couple days and I am targeting my next alfalfa tea for Saturday
or Sunday and then another guano tea around the 20th.

    These are all from yesterday.
