Outdoor grow: Female or male?

  1. Outdoor grow, pic from a few weeks ago. Is this Female or male?

    Can't tell as its my first grow ever.

  2. it looks a little young to me. you wont see signs of sex until it starts to flower
     
  3. if it is an outdoor grow it cant be more than a few weeks old. you have to wait till it starts to flower to tell its sex
     
  4. bobmarley, its too soon to know. Most cannabis species determine their sexuality between the 4th and 6th week of growth, and the first preflowers willl be expressed in the notch of the 5th node. With some species, the preflower may be expressed on nodes after the 5th.

    Topping prior to preflowering will eliminate the preflower development and a topped plant may take weeks longer to assess due to this factor. Your plant looks to have been topped

    Preflowers arent the only expressions of sexuality. Males are usually taller with less branching and with growth primarily on branch tips with minimal nodal development further down the branch. They are often a lighter green than females.
