hey, i am going to start my first grow soon and have been doing ALOT of research, i am going to be growing outside in a forest like area nearby. i am going to make an outdoor grow box to protect my plants from strong wind and vermin. it is not going to need any eletricity. the design im thinking of is getting some hard clear plastic and enclosing to plants in that, pots and all, and then burying it in the ground so the pot doesnt stick out and only the plant does. then drilling a few holes in all the sides of the box so air can get through and vent it out so mold doesnt grow. and it is clear so the sunlight withh get through. this is only a rough design so far and any tips, help or questions answered such as will the box get too hot inside? will be greatly appreciated. thanks.
It sounds like your ideas are valid but you may be going about them in the wrong way. Instead of burying pots in the ground, why not dig a hole? Then you allow your roots to grow past the hole into the surrounding soil if they wish. Also, instead of using a big plastic box to protect your plants, you can use chicken wire as a fence and a wooden stake to hold your plant up against strong winds. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
i was thinking about just planting them in the ground but the soil were im planting themm i think it is pretty bad and i dont really want other weeds and plants killing it or something ahah, and as for the stake will it hold it up from a young shoot haha sorry but this is my first time growing. thanks
Don't worry about the native soil, because you should be using your own mix! Check out http://forum.grasscity.com/outdoor-marijuana-growing/308969-outdoor-grow-guide.html for great tips on growing outside. His mix is great and cheap! Good luck man, keep asking any questions you may have, I'm sure not the only one on here ready to answer them and I'm sure not the most qualified but I'm glad to help.
