What a cute yard! I love the pink flowers in the first pic, and of course the lillies! Cute cat too! Cheers Os
First time growing sunflowers. I took some pics of a medium variety. I love watching flowers open. Sometimes I think they have Facial expressions. This one in the middle that’s just open a crack, looks like a sour puss or it’s trying to poop. The one on the right is yawning as it tries to Fully open, and a bee flew out. Sunflower 1 by Organic sinse posted Jul 18, 2020 at 9:19 PM I caught the bee in another pic. Sunflower 2 by Organic sinse posted Jul 18, 2020 at 9:19 PM I just love the red flames on these petals. The red adds a little pep to boring sunflowers. Sunflower 3 by Organic sinse posted Jul 18, 2020 at 9:19 PM This sf is neat cause it has flowers all the way around. I didn’t think they would do that. I thought they all might turn to where the sun sorta rises. Maybe they only grow flowers on all sides, in the land of the midnight sun? Cheers Os
Just got this the other day on the Home Depot discount rack ($3.00). And it bloomed today. Hibiscus Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I am looking for ideas on fall planted bulbs (for next summer). Very specifically, I want something that blooms after tulips, but before Asiatic lillies. I think it would be early summer category, if there is one. Any suggestions based on what you folks grow or see? cheers Os
OMG that's amazing. All these pics on here are amazing. Reminds me of when I lived in Belem Brazil back in the late 80's. Bugs and fungus and intriguing beauty. I'm lucky to be alive.
The society garlic again. It goes nuts when it get’s watered enough. And an Amaranth. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Hey TimJ I bet you know this already but others may find this interesting and/or useful. I was listening to public radio this am, and they were talking about milkweed. Monarch Butterflies and their catepilllars are the only insect (or mammal or bird), that can eat Milkweed in its natural state. All other insects that eat milkweed foliage or flowers are poisoned. The poison when eaten by the Monarch catepillars protects them, and poisons predators. Milkweed could be a great choice for companion planting in the garden to kill off leaf eating insects. There is always the chance however that the insects will be attracted to milkweed, and then eat everything but the milkweed. Anyway, it grows wild here so I am keeping my eye out for some and may play around with it I find a suitable specimen. For the record, if it is cooked or steamed, it is supposed to be same for humans to eat. cheers os
Thanks for the cool information OS. I didn't know that.I don't see any difference in slug damage on my Hosta's in the area my Milkweed is growing. The slugs do leave the Milkweed alone.
