Alrighty. I was watching 2057 last night on the discovery channel, and this is my conclusion of what could have happened. personally, i take a look at the production of robots. or, robosapiens. haha. currently, we are making robots that can recognize shapes, recognize people, and can make decisions...the best decision of maybe 5 possible decisions. i take a look at the human brain...and i see electricity flowing through it. what i see is. we are the creation. just like robots would be our creation. i mean, i just feel that maybe, what we know as skin and bones and blood and such...could have been manufactured. i believe in ufos. i believe that other worldly beings are looking at us. observing us. i mean, if you could make a robot, that could think, make decisions...feel.....and then you made 2 million robots that could do that....and you through them on their own planet to live....how long would it take before they adapted and started to make more of themselves, for things that they wanted. i mean, for all we know, emotion could have been a mistake. it could just be some mishap in the electrical configuration of our brains. anyways. from what i see....we process info just like computers. if you had a planet other than ours that had intelligent life....maybe that planet had other stuff. we look at wood...and we think wood....but maybe on other planets...there is materials we dont know of. like metals that scientists cant identify.....from space. we know that there are other types of materials out there......so why couldnt...brain matter, bone....skin....hair...all of this just have been intricately created by something else. im explaining this horribly. but the bottom line is. we can create robots that make decisions after 100 years of research. think about life on earth in the year 2200. advancement just comes with time...and if you have more time you have more advancement. i mean, from what we understand about robots now...we could possibly just stumble into them having personalitys. i mean, we make movies about it all the time. robots having minds of their own and going against the grain. what if we were the robot. what if reproduction could be set up. what if we made 2 robots....and they were able to make a little robot. haha. i dont know. personally, i think we are being watched by whatever put us here. i dont think that we left a planet in hopes to find this one....cuz why did we loose all the information when we got here.....why isnt there ANY information of life before earth....certainly there should be.
hey man. you can chuckle all you want. but when it comes down to it...that explination is probably more accurate than any religious explination. haha. and it is said that most ancient civilizations were into some sort of drug...or mind altering substance....so technically, pretty much every religion was sprouted on some half baked explination. actually, every explination is probably "half baked" in some sence.
it just bothers me that people laugh at people for believing in life outside of space...but then they go to a building the next sunday, give that building their money, and listen to storys of magic. i mean, whats more believable, technilogical advancement....or magic. which of the two have proved to be real?
I like scientific theory myself. You not really talking about technological advancement, you're flirting with some fantasy about robots and aliens as far as I understand it. give this movie a view, man. I think you'd like it, maybe help you get your thoughts and theories organized a little better. You might want to check out transhumanism too. "What We Still Don't Know" with Martin Rees
thanks for the movie and such, im into all types of things like this. im always up to learn more. as for flirting with fantasy....from what i understand...we need to flirt with fantasy so that we have some sort of goal with where to go in life. i mean, anything thats around today, 60 years ago, would have been purely fantasy. we as humans tend to make up fantasys in our heads...then make them as real as possible. i mean, 3d hologram images...were starting to be able to produce them...when 40 years ago...it was fantasy. that goes along with cars and planes and all that too. we decide what we want for the future...then we go about obtaining it. and as time moves on, we learn more and more.....i dont think there is a limit to information...so as long as we keep learning, we'll keep making fantasy true as for my fantasy, i know its farfetched...but anything that is a possibility gets the same seriousness from me as the next. and as for robots...thats not fantasy. where we are today with them anyways. ive watched the devolpment of robots for the past decade now....and weve come sooo far. it also has a lot to do with,i think this time in our lives, this generation...the turn of the millenia....is like....well, in the future, well look at this time that we are living now, as the beginning. there is no more digging for history in ancient ruins anymore, its electronical....
So we're going to invent the history of mankind and aliens by imagining it? Haha sorry, I just don't get it. and what do you mean by the very last sentence? As far as I know, primordial man didn't have PC's... but I may be mistaken.
A huge universe with massive starts, black holes, moons, and planets. It never could of just been sitting there. Think of a box it was never there someone created it. So the universe. Something created it. My view of it.
You said it makes more sense than any religious theory, but what you just said pretty much is a religious theory. Its called intelligent design; God, Allah, Robots, Aliens etc came down from the heavens, or the hills or wherever said deity comes from and creates us. Then you call other people's beliefs magic.
I've flirted with the idea of humans being created by Aliens as an experiment or something. I do believe in extraterrestrial life and I do think this is a much better explanation than the concept of God. However, at the end of the day I just believe in evolution...
define alien. if u believe in a god that doesn't live on earth - or in ur country by one definaition - then god is an alien. lol. who knows? the truth of who what or how we came to b may be something we don't even have a word to describe, but a religious person will always call it god. even if eveolution was somehow proved - a religious person will say that evolution was invented by god and so he created us by proxy - knowing that we were to b the result. it never ends - the main debate is really - is there anything out there? whether it's aliens, god, whatever - the word for it is just the word for it. who knows if the judeo-christian god of the bible is based on the concept of an alien, but after centuries of being oral tradition, being written down, translated, etc - perhaps the idea has changed. so really - the main question is - is it all random? we just popped up meaninglessly and are essentially alone in the chaos except for beings in other places which are equally clueless and random. or - are we on purpose? is there a meaning and a purpose out there for us to discover? and then the debate would go on from there. i would say there is something out there - if only for our persistance in looking for it. there have been all sorts of things ppl have insisted on finding that i find to be just as unlikely as god - like electricity. electricity is magic - flick a switch on a wall and instant light comes from the ceiling? if i said such a thing existed 500 years ago they would have burned me or thrown me in a lake to see if i float - and burned me if i could swim. god created light right? so does the electric company - all hail national grid?? really from what i've read about the ark - the god of the isrealites that lived in ark - very well sounds like electricity. it supposedly made the releif of cherubs on it move - moving images - should i consider it a tithe to pay my electric and cable bill? if you think about it sometimes words have alot to do with how your ideas are shaped - way beyond what they actually mean. when u compound this with the changes of time and the involvement of several different languages who knows what the hell they were really thinking. whatever we find the truth of the begginnings of man to be - one thing is sure - everyone will know that they were right all along
No, im not saying that we can learn how we got here by imagining it...im talking about physical things like cars...and the city...and the world as a whole. physical... and i wasnt saying ancient folk had compters man. I was saying....people in the future...wont have to search in caves and pieces of rock for information on our time period...like we do now for history. its all electronical now...any information is stored on a harddrive and can be pulled from virtually any computer in the world. and that included and ancient artifacts we have dug up, cuz you can just dl the picture over the net in 1 second.
*EDIT* Im quoting - "You said it makes more sense than any religious theory, but what you just said pretty much is a religious theory. Its called intelligent design; God, Allah, Robots, Aliens etc came down from the heavens, or the hills or wherever said deity comes from and creates us. Then you call other people's beliefs magic." - by that one guy my beliefs about another life form creating us as robots is deffinately far from any religious belief in my eyes homeboy. First of all, my "theory" was half ass and i just decided to throw it up here to see what people had to say about that...knowing that it is completely far fetched..... now religious documents...they dont speak about just being placed on the planet....they have an all powerful GOD ( not just another life form, and when i said life form...in my head...i had an image of like..humans building robots...then putting them on mars and watched them reproduce) This all powerful god has the ability to do whatever it wants whenever it wants. magic. a human by the name of jesus turned 2 loaves of bread into enough to feed a town....magic. coming back from the dead and flying up into the skys....magic. and everything else jesus did that makes people praise him so. i mean...the god itself created earth in 7 days....NOT the 234234 billion years or whatever....magic. Then you got the greek...and their gods. hercules...super human strength.... the list goes on man. basically by what your saying, any concept of life...that came from the sky is religious. and thats wrong man. shit, people think radiation from outerspace had something to do with the creation of life....if thats the case...should we be praising the radiation god? i mean, it did come from the skys right? religion is having faith in nonsence. i dont have faith in my crappy theorys. im just making conversation.
see no. people always think that because i believe life started with complex "LIFE FORMS" , it means i think those life forms are "God". No, God is a god. Gods or GODS. A God has mythical powers and can do whatever it wants with the blink of an eye....life forms cannot achieve this...cuz its MAGIC!!!!! (also i want to throw in, i do not know obviously, how we got here...i lean towards evolution...i believe the planet made us...and evolution. however, i believe in aliens...and i dont completely reject the possobility that we were put here...and those only because of the tales in ancient scriptures . Ive noticed that, a lot of the time, they arent reffering to a god...but multiple gods. And when they describe the gods coming to earth, they describe them in flying objects through the sky.....thats breif..but there are more examples. religion could not be completely false...like i said...its usually ficticious storys backing up a good idea...that good idea could be what life is about...and thats usually just principles...basic morals.) as for everything else you wrote...word...we all ask those questions. and sometimes, we put up crappy little threads in philosophy forums when we have a crappy answer to one of those grand questions. haha.
Yes, well that's not what we were originally talking about, we were discussing the origins of man (see thread title), not technological advancement. You do realize you directly contradicted yourself in this, right? Anyways, I think there will ALWAYS be a need for archaeological and anthropological discovery. Your mixing and mashing the definition of discovery and the idea of information access. That's like saying in the 1600 that we don't need anymore science because we have libraries full of book! Seriously man, your ideas are really incoherent.
Thats bull shit. How can you disagree about no longer having a need to dig in dirt for information? and how do i contradict myself? explain man... Im saying that from the earliest people to the dawn of technology....didnt have ways to store information...except rocks...tablets....eventually books. BUT even the old books....a lot of history will never be known because of the burning of those books by people. taking over towns and such. We dont have the need for that anymore is what im saying man. come the year 3000...if we are still advanced and alive and well....we arent going to need to go to africa and dig a rock out of the dirt to see how life was on earth in 2200.....well just log onto the internet. thats all i was saying man. and if i contradicted myself again...let me know. but its sounding like me and you just arent on the same page.
oh, and if they did still dig around, it would be for more information regarding life before our technological advancements. oh, and, didnt i start this thread....how can i not talk about technological advancement...I was using it to back up my opinion.
I've always noticed that whenever llockhart makes a post rasta-man always has something to say. Grow up dude.
God forbid I have an opinion. how infantile of me. P.S. -- I did in-fact decide to let llockhart the last word in this thread.
