    21/48 above ground now. (Keeping 24) Seems like all's well. 20210318_122313.jpg 20210318_122344.jpg 20210318_122422.jpg

  2. Why do you crack seeds in solo ups and not seed starters? What’s your watering schedule look like? Looking for new perspective.

  3. Solo cup lets u grow a pretty decent size plant before transplanting. Watering depends on your rh, light, medium, etc etc. I weigh my solo cups when i fill them with dry dirt so i can weigh exactly when they r ready to be watered. last run i used 1/2 gallon pots to start though.

  5. Oops

Well, really I pop 'em in paper towel then plant them taproot down in the solo cups. There's not any kind of complicated logic behind it. The reason I do it is because I have got better results this way. Also I take pride in mixing my own unique soil. My friend has used my soil to start their whole vegetable garden too, with excellent results. Watering does depend on your medium. I tend to mulch heavy and rarely have to water at all honestly. These sprouts are in 80% humidity so I haven't had to water them yet. Will probably give em a little tonight if they look dry at all.

  6. Good idea weighing them. I pretty much just guess. It's not tough to keep up if your conditions are good.

  7. I like the weighing idea. I’d just assume the soil
Wouldn’t need water but every 10 days plus in a solo cup. So with all that wet soil
For all that time does it grow bugs or fungus. Just a thought.

  8. Gotta let em dry out. You get a feel for it. If I see gnats, I use diatomaceous earth and let em dry out. Already saw a few ladybugs crawling around on patrol too

  9. Aired 'em out a little. Didn't have to water yet. Lowered the light a little. Looks good. 20210318_213407.jpg 20210318_213814.jpg 20210318_224629.jpg 20210318_233933.jpg
Got some fungus growing like grass on that last one. Put a lot of mycos in the soil...

    Cheers!

  10. Might be a bit humid in there.

  11. Yeah that's why I aired 'em out. Turned a fan on too. Was at 49% when I left. Will probably stabilize around 60% I'm guessing. I just wanted it really high for the first day or so. I don't think the fungus is a threat. I think it is friendly fungus.

  12. Humidity evened out at 45% surprisingly. Still don't need water. Looks good. 20210319_125112.jpg 20210319_125123.jpg 20210319_125920.jpg

  13. Got dry so I gave them a little water. (1 solo cup of water for every 8 plants) Picked my favorite 24 tentatively. 20210319_234805.jpg

  14. Snow is gone. Some wire overhead needs attention. Field of dreams.

Gave 12 away. Put the rest 4.5 feet under a 400w MH lamp. Took the domes off so they can get some breeze and thicken up. Humidity only around 20-25% but should be OK. Had my humidifier fan burn out, so I replaced it with a window fan about the same size.

Got two of these fans that oscillate at the axle and blades, but stay otherwise stationary. I like them.

  15. Seems good. Nothing tipping over or stalled out. Turned up to 600w. (Still about 4.5 feet away) 20210322_105138.jpg

  16. They were drying out pretty fast so I mulched them with clean straw. Perfect breeze in there. They're all dancing. 20210322_132520.jpg

  17. I’m pulling 65 led watts from the wall right now and my solo cups are very happy. Save some juice guy

  18. You are not wrong. I'm definitely going Tim Allen Home Improvement with the "more power" here. Oh ho ho!

I might lower it and turn it down to 360w or 400w. I only run a lamp for a month or two every year, so I don't sweat it too much. Power bill is like a bag of weed... Of course I say that about everything.
